Summary: Why Jesus wouldn’t have married.

DaVinci Cold

The whole ballyhoo about the DaVinci Code has left me cold. Unbelievers are expected to create trash, rumors, and heresies about Christ. That is basically what they do so this and the Gospel of Judas, the Lost Books, etc, etc ad infinitum and ad nauseum will always be with us. This current mess has been proven to be a lie and a fraud written by a deluded man years ago. People were putting out false gospels and epistles during the lifetime of the Apostles. (2 Thess 2:2) Can we expect anything less in this age of apostasy?

Will anybody lose faith that sees it? Hardly, the critics have trashed the movie so it isn’t even worth the viewing time from a cinematic viewpoint so the bogus theology will not move anyone with a bare modicum of faith. Unbelievers will relish in the filth and the Left will see it as a glorious victory but in the end it will fade into an ignominious death like the other outrageous films and books before it. It will be doomed to sit on the dusty shelves while the Bible and Christ it seeks to defame and destroy will carry on as they have for 2,000 years.

In our sex-crazed world, it is hard to understand a man of influence not having an affair or a marriage. It is commonplace, but Christ was not a common man on a common mission. Well, they say, if he had no heterosexual relations then He must have been a homosexual. Why? There are many people even in this age who have never had a sexual relationship of any kind. I know that is shocking, but there are lifelong virgins alive today. Some just have no drive, some have taken religious vows, and some just never found anyone they loved enough or loved them enough to enter into that type of relationship.

So the Son of God manifests Himself in the flesh and chooses not to have a marriage. Why is that so hard to believe? There are many reasons. First, he knew that He was going to pay for our sins on the Cross at age 33. He handed the care of His widowed mother over to John. He would have also left behind a widow and maybe children had He married at the age of 30 when a man was supposed to be of marrying age in that day. It would not have been wise or compassionate to do so and He was/is the epitome of both.

He would not have had a homosexual relationship because that would have been against God’s Law and would have disqualified Him as the sinless Lamb to be slain for the sins of mankind. Contrary to modern opinion that activity was condemned completely not just in cases of rape. Monogamous relationships between same-sex partners would not have been acceptable thus the relationship between David and Jonathan or that of Christ and John were not homosexual in nature. Love between people can exist without sex.

Christ was here on His Father’s mission to do His Father’s will, not His own. As Paul tells us under divine inspiration that there are times it is best to be single such as in times of persecution. A single person can function undistracted by the normal demands of marriage and children. Sadly, the very disciples Jesus called were often more of a hindrance than help. He needed no more cares of this world than them. He was on a higher calling. Marriage is honorable but He had a greater plan to execute.

Finally, the primary reason He did not marry is that to do so and to have a son would have caused a new race of sinless men. He was here to save the fallen race of Adam not create a new one.

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (KJV)

The need for the Virgin Birth came from the sin nature being passed on by Adam through his seed. No one left the Garden until Adam ate. Women are carriers and have the disease but the man’s seed passes it on. Hence, Jesus needed to be born of a Virgin so as to not have the sin nature. That being true, His seed would not have had a sin nature to pass on but a sinless and even a Divine one. His children would have had no sin nature and a new race would be born of God-men and God-women. That was not in the plan.

Rom 5:15-19

15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. (KJV)

Christ came into the world as the Second Adam to redeem a fallen race. His mission was greater than sex, marriage, or children. All those things are necessary to keep this race under the curse going and to provide love, stability and order to society but man’s need of redemption was far greater. Those things are temporal but salvation is for eternity. I am thankful that He chose to come to seek and save that which was lost rather than kick us to the curb and create a new race or just let us die in our sins.

So, bring on all the wacky theories, supposed new revelations, so-called gospels even try to pollute the Word of God with theologian fables. The Word and Christ are rocks that have broken many picks and hammers. They will continue to do so. You can hammer them if you like but as the old evangelist said, “Payday, Someday” is just around the corner. I will take my stand on the Rock. Maranatha!

July 15, 00 The Rock

The rock! The rock!

The forces of evil rage

Around me like a wildfire!

Fears, doubts, and failures

Howl fiercely within me,

But I will stand. I WILL STAND

On the Rock, on the Rock!

That Rock is Jesus!!
