When I was flying back from the Middle East, the aircraft flew high over the Egyptian desert where there was nothing but yellow sand and then there came into view the River Nile. On either bank of the river there were broad bands of green vegetation. The river brought life. There was moisture for the crops; the tree roots could find nourishment. This is just a faint illustration of what we have in Jesus. "I am the bread of life," said Jesus.
