Sin is real. So is salvation. But we can’t really understand the joy of salvation until we understand the depths of sin from which we have been saved.

Avarise, or greed, is different than coveteousness. Covetousness is a desire for things we don’t have. Avarice is a hoarding of things we have but don’t need.

Lust is more than sex. It is about power. It is about the overwhelming desire for power. Sex was not the main issue in David’s sin with Bathsheba. It was the lust for power and control.

There is more to gluttony than eating too much. It is a statement to God that you don’t trust God to take care of the future. You have to get all you can today because you aren’t sure of tomorrow.
