Heart O’ the Hills

Introduction

The son of God, Jesus Christ came to this earth so that we might fully understand God almighty.

He walked on this earth in a fleshly body, giving us an example to live by.

He gave us the greatest gift of all, to become children of God.

He showed us how we might imitate him.

Christ-like in our daily living

If we have been given the privilege of being called the children of God, then shouldn’t we act like it?

As children of God we have something that those outside the family of God do not have.

We can live a victorious life.

We can overcome adversities.

We can tread on serpents.

As children of God we have the Power of Prayer.

However the Power of Prayer is an attitude thing.

There are five areas that we must examine to see if our attitude is affecting the power of our prayers.

Scripture

13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:13-14 (NKJV)

Prayer

Contrite Heart

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

We must humble ourselves.

Seek God.

Repent of our wicked ways

Whole-Heartedness

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

Our drive to seek him must be right.

Our desire to know God must be right.

Are attitude about prayer must be right.

Faith filled Heart

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:24

We must believe before we ask.

We must believe when we ask.

Our attitude affects our altitude.

Righteousness Heart

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16

When we pray, we must have our heart in the right place.

There is no power in prayer when we hold a grudge against someone.

There is no power in prayer when don’t want to pray for certain people.

There is no power in prayer if we fail to pour our hearts into it.

Obedience Heart

And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 1 John 3:22

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 1 John 5:14

Our love for God puts the power in prayer.

Our faith in God puts the power in prayer.

Our obedience to God puts the power in prayer.
