Biblical advice for newlyweds

Introduction

God's Plan for Your Family (Ephesians 5:18-22)

The family is the fundamental unit of society, but in this generation, we are witnessing the decline of the family. Divorce, sexual liberation, domestic violence, infidelity, and other societal issues are contributing to the demise of the family. However, we must recognize the importance of the family and fight to preserve it.

The Bible provides wisdom and guidance for newly married couples. By following these principles, we can strengthen our marriages and build a solid foundation for our families.

Be filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18)

Instead of seeking solace in worldly pleasures like alcohol, we should seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit. This means immersing ourselves in God's Word and allowing it to guide our lives.

Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19)

Communication is vital in a marriage. Instead of engaging in negative or hurtful conversations, we should speak words of encouragement, praise, and worship to one another.

Give thanks to God always (Ephesians 5:20)

Maintaining an attitude of gratitude is crucial in a marriage. By expressing gratitude to God and to one another, we cultivate a positive and joyful atmosphere in our homes.

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21)

Both husbands and wives should practice humility and mutual submission. This does not mean relinquishing leadership roles but rather serving one another selflessly, just as Christ served us.

Fulfill your marital duties (1 Corinthians 7:3-5)

Physical intimacy is an essential aspect of marriage. Both spouses have a responsibility to meet each other's needs and desires within the boundaries of marriage.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the wisdom and truth found in your Word. Help us to apply these principles to our marriages and families. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, that we may communicate with love and encouragement. Give us grateful hearts and teach us to serve one another selflessly. May our marriages be a reflection of your love and grace. In Jesus' name, amen.
