Stand Fast In The Lord!

Stand Fast
Intro.
Stand Fast
-If we are to be successful in the Christian life we must take our Stand.
-We are not to just lie down and let the world and
the devil run over us.
-We are not to just sit in contentment.
-We are to STAND
-Stand FAST.
--“Fast” means that we are not going to be moved.
--Psalm 1 (like the tree planted by rivers of water)
(here I made the comparison between the tree by the water and the chaff)
1. Stand fast in the Lord.
-Two meanings.
A. We are must not attempt to stand in our own
strength, but in the strength of the Lord.
B. We must stand IN the Lord.
-Not in the world.
-In His Kingdom
-For His glory
-Too many are falling back into the old life.
-Even the disciples took off
"…Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled."
-STAND IN THE LORD
2. Stand in your commitment to the Lord. Psalm 89:28
-“Covenant” – commitment
-You committed your life to the Lord the day you were
saved.
--How are you doing?
-He has kept up His commitment to you.
-Is He Lord or not?
--Are you obeying Him?
--Are you following Him?
--Are you serving Him?
3. Stand fast in the faith. 1 Corinthians 16:13
-This is our trust in God.
-You trusted Him for salvation.
-You can trust Him in everything
-“I Just Keep Trusting My Lord” (song)
-Trust Him for the big things.
-Trust Him for the little things.
4. Stand fast in your liberty. Gal. 5:1
-Jesus set us free from sin.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
-He set you free from sin so you didn’t have to live in sin.
"For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace." Romans 6:14.
-You don’t have to go back there.
-You don’t have to go back to the bondage.
5. Stand fast in the Word of God. 2 Thessalonians 2:15
-“traditions” –oracles of God or truths of God.
-Whether it is by the preaching of the Word (word)
-Or by the written word (epistle)
--The Word of God will not fail you.
--Read it
--Study it
--Memorize it.
6. Stand fast against the Wicked One. Ephesians 6:10-18
-Dress right
-Pray right
-Stand right
Never run from the devil….STAND

In the Lord
In your commitment
In the faith
In your liberty
In the Word
