37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.
I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word.
By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Jesus is the Messiah, the promised one who would rule over an everlasting kingdom as God’s anointed king. We are called on to make a response to Jesus. Do we acclaim him as our king or reject him because he doesn’t meet our expectations?
