First we looked at the motivational gifts in Rom. 12:6-8. Then the manifestation gifts in 1 Cor. 12:7-11. Now we'll go to Eph. 4:11, "It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists and some to be pastors and teachers."

In Eph. 1:18 Paul prays that their hearts would be enlightened. To enlighten means to make clear or inform. The Greek word Paul uses means to shine; to illuminate. Paul wants their hearts to illuminate and shine with the things he goes on to describe.

We've been covering the manifestation gifts of 1st Cor. 12:7-11. Today we finish up the list by looking at the gifts of discernment and speaking in and interpreting tongues. [prophecy is in this list but that was covered when I did Rom. 12:6-8.]
