  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I hope you will receive as much of a blessing reading these sermons as I have preparing them. I’ve always believed in my heart that sermons are messages the minister writes down, prepares then delivers coming straight from the Throne Room of Grace!! Be what God has called you to be and most important? Go & serve where God puts you.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Any sermon that will cause us to be what God intends for us to be and any that will cause us to do what he wants us to do.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: I love the story about the geese. I have pastor in the Arkansas/Mississippi Delta for several years and I love to see the geese as they fly & as they land as a group. The illustration is: The geese fly in a "V" because each goose flys behind another goose (except the lead goose), this causes each goose to fly with a draft that gives them the ability to fly 75% farther that on their own. When the lead goose gets tired or injured and leaves the lead another goose goes immediately to the lead and takes over. If one of the geese gets sick, tired, or injured and leaves the flock at least 2 other geese will leave with it and stay with it until it either gets well or dies. At which time they will either fly to their original flock or they will join in another flock. The reason you can hear the geese "Honking" is they are honking at the goose ahead of them encouraging them to keep flying. They are encouraging the one that is providing the draft. this illustration is saying the church needs to be like the geese............

  • What my parents think of my sermons: They always seem to enjoy them. I have preached my Grandmother & Grandfathers funeral (Mom’s Parents) and each time I gave my Mother the sermon. now that I am on this website they will be able to look at more often. I used to years ago tape my messages but I don’t anymore. My Mothers Grandmother was a founding member a Nazarene Church in Lake Wales Florida after having been a methodist for years. I appreciate my Mom & Dad very much. They have always been behind me 100%!!
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Bless her heart, she has heard my sermons more than anyone else other than myself, and believe it or not she is still sane!! she has always been my help meet, I can ask her how my message was and she has always been honest (no criticism). She has always been there telling other pastor spouses that she never gets tired of hearing me preach. Each message is always different. I appreciate her for standing with me as we have been in some difficult places.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: My pastor (He led me to the Lord in 1983)told me when I first got in the ministry: "Never let the devil get scooters under your ministry - you will have a hard time getting stopped."
  • Books that have had an impact: Of course God’s Word, Purpose Driven Church, Purpose Driven Life. I love reading about the apostle Paul and reading thru sermon books.
  • Hobbies: Enjoy hunting, fishing, golf, Nascar & most important: spending time with my grandkids
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: If you are not saved today then you need to be, if you are saved then you need to be living, loving and serving as God would have you to. We live in a troublesome world, always remember: God’s Grace is sufficient. one of the things I’ve always loved to say? You need to KEEP ON KEEPIN’ ON!! The Main thing is to Keep the Main Thing the main Thing!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: when I first started preaching early in 1984 I always stood behind the pulpit and never moved around any. I had a preacher friend that walked all around the pulpit and I thought that was being evangelical to move around. So all week I thought this next Sunday I am going to walk around. All week long, yes siree I’m getting out of the pulpit & preach. I was very nervous and uncomfortable, but sure enough Sunday morning just as I walked to the pulpit the zipper on my suit pants broke (I was standing behind an oak pulpit) so I wasn’t worried but I kept thinking what will I do after the message & I need to go to the back & greet people, what will I do? After the sermon then the altar call as I was praying I reached down & rezipped my pants at which time they went together fine. I never had any problems with that zipper again. Plus for 21 years I have stood behind the pulpit too.
