About John
  • Education: BS in Structural Eng. from Finlay Eng. College
  • Experience: Served as fill-in minister at local churches. Weekly devotions at Nursing Homes, apartment complexes
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Preaching never blessed me as much as the study and preparation
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Too many to count
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Love to use the story of the Gadarene demoniac, especially when talking to children.
  • Family: Wife: Sierra (49 yrs) children: Mike (Ks) Mary (SC) grandchildren (6) Kara, Chloe, Deacon, Emanuel, Justus, Colton
  • What my parents think of my sermons: never heard me.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: I think that I often bored her, because we sometimes spoke 8-10 times a week and I would use the same sermon several times.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Remember, you know more about what you are talking about than those you are talking to.
  • Books that have had an impact: Thru the Bible by J. Vernon McGee
  • Hobbies: fishing, painting, preparing Bible studies
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: If you ever do too much for God, tell me; but I don't think you ever will.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: In a Nursing Home I had an elderly lady get up from her seat, walk down the Isle and try to get the microphone away from me, all the time declaring I wasn't talking loud enough and she was going to show me how to use the microphone. I won the wrestling contest. Several times had the patent's cat visit our services-she was a good listener.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He loved God.

    Contributed on Jul 17, 2019

Psalm 33 is a call to lively and joyous praise to God for His glorious attributes and works, as displayed in creation, and His general and special providence, in view of which, the Psalmist, for all the pious, professes trust and joy and invokes God's mercy.

  • The Departure From The Ark.

    Contributed on Jul 14, 2019

Noah was a man of faith whose name is recorded in Hebrews 11 with those other heroes of faith. He had the faith to walk with God when the people of the world were ignoring and disobeying God.

  • Institution Of The Lord’s Supper

    Contributed on Jul 11, 2019

It meant a lot to Jesus to spend those hours with His disciples. He loved them, and their presence encouraged Him. He took the cup and the bread of the Passover and transformed them into memorials of His own blood and body, for He wanted the disciples to remember Him.
