About John
  • Education: BS in Structural Eng. from Finlay Eng. College
  • Experience: Served as fill-in minister at local churches. Weekly devotions at Nursing Homes, apartment complexes
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Preaching never blessed me as much as the study and preparation
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Too many to count
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Love to use the story of the Gadarene demoniac, especially when talking to children.
  • Family: Wife: Sierra (49 yrs) children: Mike (Ks) Mary (SC) grandchildren (6) Kara, Chloe, Deacon, Emanuel, Justus, Colton
  • What my parents think of my sermons: never heard me.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: I think that I often bored her, because we sometimes spoke 8-10 times a week and I would use the same sermon several times.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Remember, you know more about what you are talking about than those you are talking to.
  • Books that have had an impact: Thru the Bible by J. Vernon McGee
  • Hobbies: fishing, painting, preparing Bible studies
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: If you ever do too much for God, tell me; but I don't think you ever will.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: In a Nursing Home I had an elderly lady get up from her seat, walk down the Isle and try to get the microphone away from me, all the time declaring I wasn't talking loud enough and she was going to show me how to use the microphone. I won the wrestling contest. Several times had the patent's cat visit our services-she was a good listener.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He loved God.

He wanted the Lord to carefully think about what he called here his “meditation;” that is, he desired him not merely to listen to his “words,” but to the secret and unexpressed desires of his soul.

Thursday, January 9, 2014 Tom Lowe Psalm 5—Perfect Man in the Midst of Enemies. 1 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation. 2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. 3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning more

  • Fishes And Fowls Created.

    Contributed on Mar 22, 2018

The plain and simple proposition of the passage is that God created all of the species of life mentioned here simultaneously. The balance in creation that is still witnessed by the ecological systems in nature could not have come into being except by . .

15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. • Elders In The Congregation Part 2

    Contributed on Mar 20, 2018

When Paul left Crete, there were certain things that still needed to be set in order; there were false teachers to be silenced, and there was the pressing need for recognized spiritual guides in the assemblies. He left Titus to handle these matters.

Chapter 1, Verses 5-9 Title: Elders in the Congregation For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you— if a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of more
