About Lance
  • Education: Cincinnati Bible College and Seminary
  • Experience: Youth Ministry: 4 yrs Associate/Preaching: 6yrs
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Good luck making any sense out of my sermon structure! It works for me!
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Prayer of Jabez sermon series
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Anything the great preacher Wayne Smith from Southland Christian Church in Lexington, Ky has said! He is a walking illustration!
  • Family: Married May 15, 1994 Wife: Gwen Children (2): Loren, Reagan
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Mom cries, and Dad says; "Son that was good, but did you think of saying something along these lines....."
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She is ALWAYS honest. She is a school teacher and feels the need to grade them every week. I have only recieved a few failing grades in my 10 years of ministry. Right now I am slightly above avg according to her!
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: One of our Elders told me after preaching one day: "Don’t worry so much about your delivery. Just preach the word as God gave to you and let him drive the delivery of the message into our hearts and minds. He doesn’t really need your help." He told me this in a loving way, and it has helped my preaching 10-fold!
  • Books that have had an impact: "Oh, the Places You’ll Go" by Dr. Seuss, and a "Life of Search" by D. Elton Trueblood. (Anything by C.S. Lewis or Jeff Foxworthy)
  • Hobbies: Mt. Biking, Hunting, anything outdoors Basketball, anything to do with University of Kentucky sports, spending time doing all these things with my family!
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Get right or get left....
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I was preaching in a small rural country church that had no air conditioning, so we left the doors open which led into the sancturary. One of the neighbors horses must have gotten loose, because it came running right into the church building and up the isle where stopped at the communion table. Needless to say I felt it was a sign from the Lord to wrap the sermon up!
  • What I want on my tombstone: See you later!
