About Phillip
  • Education: MDiv, Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, 2004; MA, Public Administration, Webster University, St Louis, MO, 1983; BA, Social Pyschology, Parkville, MO, 1981; AAS, Criminal Justice, Community College of the Air Force, 1982; AA, History, University of Alaska, 1979.
  • Experience: Pastor for ten years. The bulk of my secular work both in the military and since retirement has been in the federal investigative community.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Don’t let compromise ever enter your ministry. Give it to them straight in an honest and clear manner.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Preach through the miracles and the "I am" statements in the gospel of John. Excellent starting point for ministry.
  • Family: I am married (44 years), we have three grown children and six (perfect) grandchildren.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Both parents have passed away before I became a pastor. Neither ever heard me preach - I live and pastor over 1,000 miles from my original home.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She is my greatest supporter, honestly giving me feedback. I appreciate her.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Don’t repreach your message as you are trying to conclude.
  • Books that have had an impact: The Gospel of John, Romans
  • Hobbies: Photography, coin collecting, writing (Sci-Fi) novels. Look up Talon Cyborg Warrior and Silene Cyborg Astronaut on amazon.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Don’t listen to the world, ask God to reveal himself to you through his written word. Then pray and begin reading the best journey of your life.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Mice running in the lights above my head while preaching. Everyone was looking up then I did as well. Good laugh but we kept on.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Seek Jesus While there is Time
