How we respond to people who are hurting STILL matters. Our ability to show grace, compassion, and love to those around us is critical, and it's something we see quite clearly in these conversations.

From this second conversation we can learn two things: We ought to show compassion and be discerning when we talk to people. It may be the only grace they receive during their time of trouble!

Job is in a world of complete hopelessness, and his friends are only making things worse. Our lesson from this is actually simple: The key to strengthening our hope is to focus on God, not yourself!

In this first conversation, the more senior friend lays an accusation on heavily, and what it does it torment Job, instead of helping him recover. What Job needs is a comforter – but instead he receives condemnation.

We can learn one definite lesson from Job's lamenting on his situation: Be encouraged that Jesus has already provided a way for you. Do not allow yourself to fall into the trap of thinking all is lost – it isn’t!
