The New York Yankees had been the world champions in baseball 26 times when they came to the American League Championship Series in 2004. They trampled the Boston Red Sox by taking the first three games of the championship playoffs. The third game was a complete drubbing at 19-8.

But after Game 4 went into extra innings, David Ortiz brought Boston and its fans back to life with a walk-off home run in the 12th inning.

Big Papi and company took Game 5 in 14 innings, Mark Bellhorn’s controversial game-winning home run in Game 6, and finally Boston crushed the Yankees in Game 7. They completed a most dubious comeback -- winning a seven-game series after trailing 3-0.
