Extreme makeovers are in. Of the 6.6 million cosmetic-plastic-surgery patients in 2002, nearly a third had multiple procedures at the same time. To facilitate the trend, a one-stop beauty shop has opened called the Advanced Aesthetics Institute. Interested customers consult with a "concierge" and choose from a menu of services. Total makeovers include cosmetic dentists, Botox injections, and other cosmetic enhancements. The average cost runs about $20,000. The president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons sounds a warning: "It gives people the false perception that they can be anybody they want to be."
