Doctrines Every Believer Must Know In Order To Stand Firm In These Latter Days.

PART 1 - THEOLOGY - The Study Of God

Today we will look at how we can better know God through His Scriptures.

I. GOD’S NAMES

a) Elohim - Means god, not the name of God, but a title - like president

b) Jehovah - The name of God which means Redeemer

c) Adoni - Means master or owner

d) Jehovah Combinations:

1. Jehovah Jireh - The Lord Will Provide (Genesis 22:14)

2. Jehovah Rapha - The Lord That Heals (Exodus 15:26)

3. Jehovah Nissi - The Lord Our banner (Exodus 17:15)

4. Jehovah Qadash - The Lord That Does Sanctify (Lev. 20:8)

5. Jehovah Shalom - The Lord Our Peace (Judges 6:24)

6. Jehovah Tsidkenu - The Lord Our Righteousness (Jer.23:6)

7. Jehovah Shammah- The Lord Is There (Ezekiel 48:35)

8. Jehovah Sabaoth- The Lord Almighty (1 Samuel 1:3a)

-------------------------------------------------------

II. GOD’S EXISTENCE

a) False Systematical Teachings Of Theology

1. Deism - This system acknowledges that there is a God, but denies that God sustains the creation. "God is the Maker, but not the keeper.

2. Atheism - The doctrine that excludes God all together.

3. Skepticism - The skeptic must have proof of God, and truly doubts Apocalyptic teachings.

4. Agnosticism - This teaching does not deny that God exists, but denies that God can be known personally.

5. Pantheism - Everything is God, and God is everything. Everything you see is God. God and creation are synonymous.

6. Polytheism - The belief that there are many Gods. There are various Gods over us; these in turn have gods over them. As long as you are following a god you are o.k.

7. Tritheism - The doctrine that teaches there are 3 separate Gods.

8. Dualism - This is the belief that there are two equal God’s. One is God is good and one God is bad.

b) Correct Systematical Teachings Of Theology

1. Theism - Teaches that there is a personal God, and that He can and desires to be personally known.

2. Monotheism - Teaches that there is only one true living God.

c) Evidence Of The Existence Of God

1. Proof From Reason

A) Intuitional Proof - The fact that one believes in God without anyone having to tell them. Children have intuitional belief.

B) Cosmological Proof - Here is a world. Where did it come from? GOD!

C) Teleological Proof - The earth is created so perfectly that a higher power did it.

D) Anthropological Proof - This proof is based upon the moral and intellectual qualities of man. Man is a direct result of the creation of God as other creatures are, yet these creatures do not possess the moral and intellectual qualities of man. Why? If man could create them these qualities, so could animals. But man has the capacity to know and to reason. If man did not get these qualities from some ONE, where did he get them?

2. Proof From History

A) If the prophecies of God had not come true, the world might would have an argument, but the facts are right there. Every thing that God said would happen, HAS!

3. Proof From Experience

A) The fact that our lives have been transformed is proof within itself.

4. Proof From The Scripture

A) The Bible tells us that God is, and that’s enough.
