Summary: What is AD and does it end?

It’s Christmas time!

How does Christmas today in 2018 AD fit in God’s Schedule?

Let’s start at the very beginning shall we? Open your Bibles to Genesis 1, a very good place to start! Genesis 1:1….. v26-28….. We all came from Adam and Eve! We all came from God!

All people (red, yellow, brown, black or white) were all created in God’s sight! All people have the same Holy Almighty Creator God!

Now turn to Genesis 3:13-15…. All people came from Adam and Eve who went against what God said with the help of the devil and so, all mankind sin and in need of a Savior. We read a prophecy from God as soon as the first people sinned! The devil will strike His heel but this Savior will crush the devil! A Savior will destroy sin and the devil, although this Savior will experience pain. Because God loves people even though they sin, God promised a Savior Messiah from the very beginning of life on earth!

And so God chose a people through which this Savior Messiah would come from. God started His Chosen People through Abraham.

Please open your Bibles now to the Gospel of Matthew….

We read in the Beginning of Matthew 1 how the Savior Messiah came from Abraham. Read along with me now Matthew 1:17-25….

Today it’s 2018 AD; What does AD stand for?? AD stands for Anno Domini, Latin for “The Year of the Lord”! What is the Year of the Lord? AD is when the Savior Messiah Lord Jesus Christ was born on earth, the reason we celebrate Christmas!

And why did God Jesus come to earth? Jesus said in the Gospel of Luke 19:10, “I, the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

So simply, a little over 2000 years ago, Jesus Christ came to earth from heaven, became a Son of Man through the Chosen People Israel to find any person who is lost and save them! The Savior Messiah was born on earth about 2000 years ago!

And who are the lost people? again we can go all the way to Genesis which tells us the first man and woman sinned and so all their descendants, all people today are marked with sin, lost away from God without a Savior.

God also tells us in Romans 3:23-26 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.”

All we have to do is look at our own lives, right? No one is right in God’s Holiness. All of us have lied; all of us have hated; all of us have forgotten our Creator God many times. But God understands our failures, this is why we have Savior Messiah Jesus Christ who is Christmas, the Resurrection, and soon to return to earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords to judge the living and the dead! How does 2018AD fit in God’s plan?

Again, AD (Anno domini) - about 2000 years ago, is when Jesus Christ was born on earth – First Christmas!

AD 33 – Jesus Christ died, was buried, rose again for our sins!

AD End – Jesus Christ returns to earth to judge those who do not believe in Him!

AD 2018 – Today – the day to believe what Christmas really means!

Christmas is ONLY the beginning of the gift of salvation! Salvation of our souls is not only Jesus Christ born on earth (Christmas) but His death and Resurrection. and the return of Jesus Christ as Judge Eternal! Today, believing in Jesus Christ is not just Christmas but looking forward to His appearance for us to take us to heaven!

Let us celebrate our Lord’s Birthday but let us be excited about the Return of Jesus Christ to take us to heaven! Amen!
