Summary: At a dinner party, several of the guests were arguing whether men or women were more trustworthy.

more trustworthy.

• “No woman,” said one man, scornfully, “can keep a secret.”

• “I don't know about that,” answered a woman guest. “I have kept my age a secret since I was twenty-one.”

• “You'll let it out some day,” the man insisted.

• “I hardly think so!” responded the lady. “When a woman has kept a secret for twenty-seven years, she can keep it forever.”

Everyone has secrets and it is absolutely amazing the trouble some go through to keep their secret. It might be:

• Their Weight

• Their Age

• Their telephone number

• Their social security number

• Their address

But did you know the devil has a dirty little secret that he does not want anyone to know. He has done a very good job of keeping it a secret

BUT I KNOW WHAT THAT DIRTY LITTLE SECRET IS…DO YOU WANT ME TO TELL YOU?

The secret he does not want you to know is that we are saved by grace alone.

He does not want you to know when we try to mix together grace and works, than grace is not grace at all.

We are saved by grace alone!!! Absolutely!!!

Look at Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

God wants you to know that you are SAVED BY GRACE ALONE!!!

I titled this sermon a SALAVATION THAT SAVES AND A SALVATION THAT DOES NOT SAVE.

I have already SHOWNED you from the scripture a salvation that saves is by GRACE ALONE.

This is the only kind of salvation that the Bible teaches.

But let me show you a salvation that does not save and many have such a salvation.

That is why the Bible teaches in Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done

many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Can you imagine what a shock it will be for MANY who thinks they are saved by good works and they are told they are not saved.

To keep that from happening let me show you these different kinds of salvation that will not save. For example…

I. Some teach we are saved BY GRACE but we are KEPT BY WORKS!

According to the Word of God that is false teaching.

And anyone that teaches we can loose our salvation teaching a false teaching.

The reason it is a false teaching is because they teach we are saved by grace and kept by works something the Bible does not teach.

Illus: Let me illustrate. Suppose you are forty years old and the Lord saved you when you were twenty. But you believe once you are saved by the grace of God you now are kept by works. If that was true that would mean the Lord saved you from your sins the first twenty years of your life but the second twenty years of your life you saved your self by good works.

That would mean you are as much a savior as the Lord Jesus. He saved you the first twenty and you saved yourself the second twenty./

That is not what the Bible teaches.

Look again at Ephesians 2:8-9, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Salvation is a GIFT, anytime you have to do something for something it cease to be a gift.

Once we are saved by the grace of God look what the apostle Paul tells us.

Look at Ephesians 1:13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Paul is telling these gentiles once you heard the gospel of grace and received it, just like us jews your salvation is sealed by the Holy Spirit.

How long is that sealing of the Holy Spirit going to last once we are saved by the grace of God?

Look at Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
