VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Greatness of Melchizedek surpasses Abraham's greatness

"Now observe and consider how great [a personage]"

Hebrews 7:6-7 (Amplified Bible)

7:6 But this person who has not their Levitical ancestry received tithes from Abraham [himself] and blessed him who possessed the promises [of God].

7:7 Yet it is beyond all contradiction that it is the lesser person who is blessed by the greater one.

If Abraham is called father of faith, JESUS (Melchizedek) is the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Hebrews 12:2 (The Message)

12:2 Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God.

Hebrews 12:2 (New King James Version)

12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Use JESUS's faith and make JESUS the Center of our being not ourselves, or don't even use our own faith, it will fail, but use JESUS's faith.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others thrust greatness upon themselves.

Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others just grate.

B. Abraham gave his tithes to Melchizedek

"this was to whom even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth [the topmost or the pick of the heap] of the spoils."

Genesis 14:20 (Amplified Bible)

14:20 And blessed, praised, and glorified be God Most High, Who has given your foes into your hand! And [Abram] gave him a tenth of all [he had taken].

Abraham knows which king he will give his tithe, and he wanted no part of the king of Sodom but have given all his tithes to King Melchizedek.
