Summary: Everyone loves to be loved by others! We often go to great lengths to please people so they will like us. There are Christians who attempt to please people and eventually got it all wrong.

Paul said in (Gal.1:10) "Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ”

Everyone loves to be loved by others! We often go to great lengths to please people so they will like us. There are Christians who attempt to please people and eventually got it all wrong.

The question men pleasers ask is: “What will people think of me if they see me doing this? Or ........

“I don’t want people to think I am too holy "

But the starting point should always be, “What will God think of me?”

For someone like me I don’t really care much about what people think of me, but I do really care about what God will say if I do this or that.

I do constantly repent of my short comings whilst rededicating my life to God so i can maintain a healthy relationship with Him.

I am not a peoples pleaser and am also not perfect but I know my salvation is work in progress .

I constantly pray towards perfection and I believe I will get there in due season.

We learn as children that pleasing others brings rewards.

If my son cleans up his plate, do his homework, read his bible and pray, he knows I will give him a treat and we can keep our relationship as best friend forever. If he fails to do any of this he knows we will fall out immediately and there will be no treat.

We tend to please people for some of these reasons:

a) Fear of being rejected

b) Expecting to receive something in return

c) So we can be popular

BEING A PEOPLE-PLEASER:

a) Will affect your relationship with God

b) Will affect your ability to make good decisions.

c) will wear you out completely

d) can make people feel uncomfortable around you.

The people-pleaser must eventually come to terms with two truths:

a) Not everyone will love you even if you please them: Romans 12:1

b)Those who love you will never love you the way you crave to be loved.

Once we make our ways right with God, He will automatically make other people to love us without trying to please them. Prov 16:7 says: “When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Beloveth let us endeavour to be God pleasers rather than men pleasers as God will reward us in due season. ( Heb 11:6 )
