Awesome God, Amazing Power

Summary: We serve an awesome God, who has shown his great power. This message is an outline of some of the amazing things God has done.
AWESOME GOD –
Some awesome things God has done:
1) CREATION - Geesis1-2
2)AWE-INSPIRING JUDGMENT
Flood (a way of salvation) – Genesis 7
Tower of Babel – Genesis 11
Sodom and Gomorrah – Genesis 19
Plagues of Egypt – Exodus 7-12
Final Judgment – Revelation 6,8-9,11 (starting on vs. 14), 15
3) Parting of the Red Sea – Exodus 14
4) Provided for Israelites in the wilderness – Exodus 13:21-22
5) Israelites crossing the Jordan River on dry land to enter the promised land– Joshua 3
6) Walls of Jericho fall down – Joshua 6
7) Sun and moon stood still – Joshua 10:13
8) FOUND FAVOR
Joseph – Genesis 39:4,21 and 44:37

11) FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECIES
Many throughout scripture.
The most amazing thing is not what God is able to do, but what He chose to do.
He chose to create us in a way that we can know Him and have a personal relationship with Him.
Even knowing that man would chose to go his own way and turn from Him, God chose to create him.
Knowing a price would have to be paid, a sacrifice would have to be made,
God decided it is worth the cost.
AMAZING POWER
Psalms 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
GOD’S POWER OVER NATURE
God created everything that exists.
He created some very special, beautiful places that people travel just to see the beauty.
God created each of us.
Not only did God create everything but He also holds everything together.
He is the Sovereign Lord of the universe and everything is still subject to Him.
Jeremiah 32:17 …You have made the heaven and the earth by your great power and stretched out arm,
and there is nothing too hard for you.
When we face obstacles and struggles, we should remember:
the Sovereign Lord who made us has the ability and the strength to intervene in our circumstances.
He has the ability to see us through and overcome great barriers in our life to help us get to where He wants us to be.
Joshua 3&4
God delivered the Israelites with an amazing show of power from the Egyptians.
Then, because of their doubt, they ended up in a hard place.
But even during this hard time, God’s presence, provision, protection and power were evident.
After 40 years in the wilderness, the Israelites passed over the Jordan River to enter the Promised Land. An estimated one and one-half million people crossed the Jordan River on dry land.
God told them exactly what to do. They did it exactly like God told them.
God was faithful to do what He said He would do.
(If they had said, I am going to do this my way; do you think God would have done what He said He would do?)
THE POWER OF GOD OVER CIRCUMSTANCES
Daniel 6 – Daniel in the lions’ den — God shut the mouths of the lions.
Even when you do the right thing, you might end up in tough circumstances; sometimes because you do right. God has power even over tough circumstances.
He can work in the middle of struggles to allow you to bring glory to His name during and through those difficult times. He will help you, strengthen you and comfort you in tough times. He wants to intervene in your life just like with Daniel.
GOD’S POWER OVER SIN
We were created to have a relationship with God.
Man chose to sin.
Ruined his relationship with God and our relationships with each other.
We are sinners by nature. We inherited a sin nature from Adam. But we are also sinners by choice.
We have chosen to do our own thing instead of what God has called us to do.
We live our own life instead of seeking the life God has planned for us.
Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is Death.
There is nothing WE do can clean up our lives.
But God has power over sin and he made a way for us to be clean.
GOD’D POWER OVER DEATH
Jesus went to the cross.
He suffered crucifixion then He was resurrected.
