Proverbs 10:2 (Amplified Bible)

10:2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation) delivers from death.

We are established in the righteousness of GOD.

Isaiah 54:14 (Amplified Bible)

54:14 You shall establish yourself in righteousness (rightness, in conformity with God’s will and order): you shall be far from even the thought of oppression or destruction, for you shall not fear, and from terror, for it shall not come near you.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Righteousness means:

1. Rightness

2. Purity of heart and rectitude of life

3. Conformity of heart and life to the Divine Law

4. Equivalent to holiness, comprehending holy principles and affections of heart, and conformity of life to the divine law

5. Applied to God, the perfection or holiness of his nature; exact rectitude; faithfulness.

6. Active and passive obedience of Christ, by which the law of God is fulfilled

B. It's not based on ourselves, or our own human self-effort, but on JESUS CHRIST.

The LORD JESUS CHRIST is our Righteousness:

Jeremiah 23:6 (Amplified Bible)

23:6 In His days Judah shall be saved and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is His name by which He shall be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.

Matthew 1:21-23 (Amplified Bible)

1. Righteousness delivers us from death

Proverbs 10:2 (Amplified Bible)

Proverbs 11:4 (Amplified Bible)

11:4 Riches provide no security in any day of wrath and judgment, but righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God) delivers from death.

2. Righteousness makes a straight way for us

Proverbs 11:5 (Amplified Bible)

11:5 The righteousness of the blameless shall rectify and make plain their way and keep it straight, but the wicked shall fall by their own wickedness.

3. Righteousness gives us deliverance

Proverbs 11:6 (Amplified Bible)

11:6 The righteousness of the upright [their rectitude in every area and relation] shall deliver them, but the treacherous shall be taken in their own iniquity and greedy desire.

4. Righteousness delivers us from trouble
