This sermon explores Jesus's healing ministry, His dedication to spreading salvation's message, and His commitment to prayer, urging believers to emulate these practices.

Introduction

Good morning, beloved family of God. We gather here today, not by mere coincidence, but by divine appointment. I am so thrilled to be standing before you, sharing the word of God, the ultimate source of our strength and our hope.

Our focus today is found in the first chapter of Mark, verses 29 to 39. Let us read together:

"As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.

That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed. The whole town gathered at the door, and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”

Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons."

Seeking the Savior

In the passage we read, we see Jesus at the home of Simon and Andrew. Simon's mother-in-law is sick with a fever. Without hesitation, Jesus goes to her, takes her hand, and helps her up. The fever leaves her instantly, and she begins to serve them. This is a clear demonstration of Jesus's healing power. He didn't need to say a word or perform any elaborate rituals. He simply took her hand, and the fever left her. This is the Savior we seek - one who has the power to heal and restore.

Jesus's healing power is not limited to physical ailments. In the same passage, we see that people brought to Him all the sick and demon-possessed. The whole town gathered at the door. Jesus healed many who had various diseases and drove out many demons. This shows us that no matter what our problem is - whether it's a physical disease, a spiritual affliction, or any other kind of trouble - Jesus has the power to heal and deliver us.

But Jesus's authority goes beyond just healing diseases and driving out demons. He also silenced the demons because they knew who He was. This shows us that Jesus has authority over all spiritual forces. The demons recognized Him and were subject to His authority. This is the Savior we seek - one who has authority over all the powers of darkness.

But seeking the Savior is not just about seeking His healing power and authority. It's also about seeking His presence. In the passage, we see that very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed. Jesus sought solitude with God. He sought a quiet place where He could commune with His Father. This shows us that seeking the Savior also means seeking His presence in prayer and solitude.

Finally, seeking the Savior also means seeking His will. In the passage, when Simon and his companions found Jesus, they exclaimed, "Everyone is looking for you!" But Jesus replied, "Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come." Jesus knew His mission. He knew that He was sent to preach the good news of salvation. He was not swayed by the crowd's demands or expectations. He sought the will of His Father. This shows us that seeking the Savior also means seeking His will in our lives.
