Summary: We are called to draw nearer to God... When one door closes another will open... just wait. Let us look at how Jesus invites us TO COME UNTO HIM.

COME BOLDLY TO THE THRONE OF GRACE…

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

TEXT:

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

WE ARE A PRODUCT OF OUR DAILY CHOICES. WILL WE COME CLOSE TO GOD… I WILL COME NEARER TO THE HEART OF GOD. IF WE WILL, HE WILL.

James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

LET US PONDER THE DOORS OF LIFE. WHEN ONE DOOR CLOSES WE ACCEPT ANOTHER DOOR WILL OPEN. IF WE HAVE TO WAIT IN THE HALL UNTIL THE NEXT DOOR OPENS. WE MUST TRUST BY FAITH THAT JESUS WILL COME TO US --- JUST WAIT ON HIM.

COME UNTO ME… are we going to be passive or active?

* To "come" means: to reach forward, purposed going, to draw nearer, to move toward, move with a purpose, to advance, to go forward, rise in rank.

We have several imperative commands that are requirements to come! If we come, we are nearer to the person!

The words COME UNTO ME --- ARE PRECIOUS. To accept an invitation takes some planning and effort. We need a moving away from the highways and hedges, and come toward the goal.

Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 19:14 (MSG) But Jesus intervened: "Let the children alone, don't prevent them from coming to me. God's kingdom is made up of people like these."

DIIRTY? Let me add something here: We so specialized in very clean fingernails. I know a lady that has glued 18 carat gold fingernails, and some have a diamond in them. WOW! I am impressed!

I guess we focus on clean fingernails because everybody can see them. What brings tears to the heart of God is DIRTY MINDS! Dirty minds can never be as close to the heart of God, as those regenerated by the Blood of Jesus.

I HAVE FOUND THAT GOD DESIRES US TO COME CLOSE TO HIS HEART. Only one person is recorded as laying their head on the chest of the Messiah and hearing the DIVINE HEART BEAT… Will we come closer?

LISTEN TO THE PERSONAL INVITATIONS OF JESUS FOR US TO "COME" IN THE NEW TESTAMENT.

1. JESUS DESIRES US TO COME TO HIM!

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest!

Wow, what an invitation! But the invitation is conditional on you, you must come.

2. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN FISHING? DO WE UNDERSTAND WHAT CASTING IS?

Psalm 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 55:22 (MSG) Pile your troubles on GOD's shoulders— he'll carry your load, he'll help you out. He'll never let good people topple into ruin.

JESUS INVITES US: Cast your burdens on the Lord, He can handle any problem that comes our way. When it is over your head, it is under His Feet!

3. JESUS SAYS FOR US TO COME AND SEE! EXPERIENCE GOD IN A PERSONAL WAY.

John 1:39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

John 1:39 (MSG) He replied, "Come along and see for yourself." They came, saw where he was living, and ended up staying with him for the day. It was late afternoon when this happened.

THERE WAS A QUESTION FROM SOME PEOPLE. THEY DESIRED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT JESUS.

So Jesus invited them: COME AND SEE...

The more the communication lines are open, the better. The closer they walked with Jesus, the more satisfaction they found in daily living!

4. JESUS INVITES US TO COME FOR LIVING WATERS… COME AND DRINK! THERE IS SOMETHING SPECIAL WHEN WE GATHER TOGETHER. YOU CAN LIVE LONGER WITHOUT FOOD THAN YOU CAN LIVE WITHOUT WATER. COME THOSE THAT ARE THIRSTY.

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

John 7:37 (MSG) On the final and climactic day of the Feast, Jesus took his stand. He cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.

If any man thirst let him COME unto Me, and DRINK ... Jesus knows our humanness, He understands our nature, Jesus has provisions and provides for us.

WHAT ABOUT THE WOMAN AT THE WELL? She was considered “dirty or bad.” She could not go to the well when all the other ladies went. The Samaritan woman was going to receive a new invitation.
