Summary: The highest thoughts a man can have is when he considers Jesus Christ

CONSIDER HIM

Heb.12:1-3

1. The word “consider” > analogizomai > ana = up, upon + logos word, logic

2. Literally to - analyse, think upon, study, contemplate, meditate, concentrate

3. The entire book of Hebrews is a consideration of Jesus Christ (3:1)(7:4)(12:3)

4. We (like the Hebrews) so often focus upon the wrong thing

5. No higher thought ever enters the mind of man than when he thinks about God

6. It’s a shame what we allow to occupy our mind (Ps.139:17)(Isa.26:3)(Phil.4:8)

7. The Devil loves to distract our attention and focus away from Christ

8. It’s dangerous to focus upon man and set our attention on him

9. Heb 11 focuses on the greatest people of Bible history yet climaxes with Christ

10. Analyse Christ, Examine Him, as Pilate did (Lk.23:14)

I CONSIDER THE CLAIMS OF CHRIST

A. His Person

1. I am the Bread of Life (Jn.6:35)

2. I am the Door (Jn.10:9)

3. I am the Good Shepherd (Jn.10:11)

4. I am the Light of the World (Jn.8:12)

5. I am the Resurrection and the Life (Jn.11:25)

6. I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life (Jn.14:6)

7. I and my Father are one (Jn.10:30)(14:9)

8. Before Abraham was, I am (Jn.8:58)

B. His Power

1. By Him all things Consist (Col.1:16b-17)

2. Destroy this temple (Jn.2:19)

3. No man taketh it from me (Jn.10:17-18)

C. His Promises

1. I will give you rest (Mt.11:28-30)

2. The son of man hath power to forgive sin (Mt.9:6)

3. I give unto them eternal life (Jn.10:27-28)

II CONSIDER THE CHARACTER OF CHRIST

A. His Sinlessness (II Cor.5:21)(I Pet.2:22)(I Pet.3:18)

B. His Servanthood (Phil.2:5-8)

C. His Sympathy crowds, Jerusalem, one sheep

III CONSIDER THE CONCERN OF CHRIST

A. Jesus Loves You

B. Jesus Came to Save You

C. Jesus Wants you to be with Him Forever

IV CONSIDER THE CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST

The word “contradiction” (3) = anti + logos = against logic. It is not rational that the Just One would die for the sinful ones. (Rm.5:7-8)

A. He took our sins upon himself

B. He put his Righteousness upon us

V CONSIDER THE CONQUEST OF CHRIST

A. The Promise that He would Conquer Death (Ps.16:10)(Jn.2:19)

B. The Power by which He Conquered Death (Jn.5:21)(Jn.10:18)

C. The Pronouncement that He had Conquered Death (Mt.28:6)(Rev.1:18)

D. The Purpose for which He Conquered Death (Jn.14:19)

VI CONSIDER THE COMMISSION OF CHRIST

A. The Plan of Christ is to reach the lost

B. The Purpose of the Church is to reach the lost

C. The Patience (Longsuffering) of God is to reach the lost (II Pet.3:9)

VII CONSIDER THE COMING OF CHRIST

A. Visible!!!

B. Victorious!!!

C. Very Soon!!!
