- Two California boys accused of shotgunning their parents to speed up their inheritance of $14 million estate

Today we have a music group called “Nine Inch Nails” that sing "I’m the one without a soul/ I’m the one with this big (heavy profanity)

Padrica Hill, former bank teller, Washington mother and wife, dresses her three children one morning, makes breakfast for them, smokes some crack cocaine and lets the kids watch cartoons. Then with a clothesline she strangles eight-year-old Kristine and four-year-old Eric Jr. She tries to strangle two-year-old Jennifer, but leaves the girl still breathing softly on the floor. When the police come, Padrica Hill says she loves her children. Why did she kill them? "I don’t know," she answers in apparently genuine bewilderment. "I hadn’t planned on it."

Man’s deeper, unstated thought is that acknowledging evil implies that Satan is coequal with God

Be Transformed

- Man todday is like Herod with their own agenda

- Herod Antipas - Ruler

- Jesus called him “that fox” - Lk 13:31-32

- Rome exiled him to Gaul

REMEMBER

- James 1:5 – In God’s own strength

1. Warned of His Sin

- v. 18

- Heaven’s search light gave warning

21 ‘If there is a man who takes his brother’s wife, it is abhorrent; he has uncovered his brother’s nakedness. They will be childless.

- It’s light on us – Rom, 3:23, 6:23

- This could have changed his life our life

- Warnings are no good unless headed

2. Reformed Through Fear

- v.20

- Seems to do right

- Working out his own salvation

- The sense of sin is frequently followed by a period of reformation

- Like Herod our darling sin remains

- One thing needful

7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

3. Misinformed by Opinions

- v.17

- Enslaved by the ideas of Others

- Which voice gets to our ear

- Lust or the Spirit

- One act quenches the voice of heaven

- To please Herodias Herod looses the Lord

- Whose sake is your life fashioned

4. Conformed to His Senses

- v. 22

- Pleased With a Passing Show

- Weighing the time of hearing and being pleased is very short

- One verse given to it

- When the cup of salvation is turned down

- The cup of pleasure is grabed greedily

- What poisions death lies within

5. Deformed His Dignity

- v. 23

- Surrendered common sense

- Sin first intrest

- Than excites

- Than captivates

- It’s what we alow to dance before our eyes

6. Mourned His Decision

- v. 26

- Driven By Compulsion

- He had sold himself

- Now a slave to another

- It won’t hurt — It leads to death

- The words of Christ revived his guilty conscience - v. 16

- There was no escape for his deeds
