Summary: THIS STUDY ADDRESSES MODERATION.

DINNER IS SERVED

OBSERVATION: SINCE EDEN, MAN HAS WANTED THE LAST OUNCE OUT OF LIFE, AS THOUGH BEYOND GOD’S “ENOUGH” LAY ECSTASY, NOT NAUSEA (KIDNER). THIS STUDY ADDRESSES MODERATION.

INTERPRETATION: PROVERBS 25:16 (NKJV) HAVE YOU FOUND HONEY? EAT ONLY AS MUCH AS YOU NEED, LEST YOU BE FILLED WITH IT AND VOMIT. PROVERBS 25:16 (THE BOOK) DO YOU LIKE HONEY? DON’T EAT TOO MUCH OF IT, OR IT WILL MAKE YOU SICK!

THOUGHTS TO PONDER:

ANYTHING OVERINDULGED, EVEN THE MOST DESIRABLE OF THINGS, CAN BECOME DISTASTEFUL AND IMPULSIVE. TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING IS MORE THAN ENOUGH. THIS APPLIES TO FOOD EVEN FRIENDSHIPS.

PROVERBS 21:17 (NKJV) HE WHO LOVES PLEASURE WILL BE A POOR MAN; HE WHO LOVES WINE AND OIL WILL NOT BE RICH. PROVERBS 21: 17 (THE BOOK) THOSE WHO LOVE PLEASURE BECOME POOR; WINE AND LUXURY ARE NOT THE WAY TO RICHES.

PROVERBS 23: 1-2 (NKJV) AND PUT A KNIFE TO YOUR THROAT IF YOU ARE A MAN GIVEN TO APPETITE. DO NOT DESIRE HIS DELICACIES, FOR THEY ARE DECEPTIVE FOOD. (THE BOOK) READS: WHEN DINING WITH A RULER, PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT IS PUT BEFORE YOU. IF YOU ARE A BIG EATER, PUT A KNIFE TO YOUR THROAT.

THE KNIFE AT YOUR THROAT SUGGESTS OVEREATING RICH FOODS, CAUSING NAUSEA.

STATELY GUESTS WERE FREQUENTLY INVITED TO BANQUETS. A COURTIER, SCHOOLED IN STATELY TABLE MANNERS AND DÉCOR ADMINISTERED RICH FOODS.

APPLICATION: THE ISSUE SPEAKS TO A BELIEVER’S EXORBITANT APPETITES AND LIFESTYLE. THE WORD SPEAKS TO MODERATION. 1 CORINTHIANS 6: 12 (THE BOOK) YOU MAY SAY, I AM ALLOWED TO DO ANYTHING. BUT I REPLY, NOT EVERYTHING IS GOOD FOR YOU. AND EVEN THOUGH I AM ALLOWED TO DO ANYTHING, I MUST NOT BE A SLAVE TO ANYTHING.
