Summary: Who will roll the stone away?

Easter 2020 outline

- Today we are celebrating Easter in a way that is by far more different than any of us

could have ever imagined.

- The Church sees some of it’s most attendance on Easter, & Christmas.

- That’s notably true, because these are the two days most important to Christians.

- The birth of our Savior.

- The Death & Resurrection of our Savior!

- It almost feels like this burden of not being able to celebrate together is a feat that we

cannot get passed.

- That’s my message this morning.

Q- Is there a feat too great for God?

- Let’s go to the resurrection morning of Jesus.

- There was a burden that seemed insurmountable.

Q- Do you know what it was?

- Read with me from out of Mark 16:1-3.

Mark 16:1-3

1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

- The stone was the burden.

Q- Who could roll the stone away?

- It was sealed, not only in its place, but by the Roman seal that could it be broken.

Q- How could we overcome the overwhelming feeling of a distant celebration?

- Think of our great God this morning, & let’s feel Him remove this stone from out of

our path?

Prayer

- Listen God removes the stone.

Matthew 28:2

2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

- The earth quakes! Scripture says that the earth cries out for the day we are

redeemed.

Romans 8:22

22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

Q- Why would there be an earthquake before the angel descended?

Q- Do you think the angel was too weak to roll a big stone away?

- No, I believe God was showing the immense rejoicing throughout this whole

creation. That’s not just our earth, or present time, but our universe, & all time!

- The moment was momentous! The Son of God is ALIVE! He is RISEN.

- We are redeemed!

- Paul wrote & said in 1 Corinthians 15:14-20

14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.

16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

- Because of Jesus’ resurrection, the penalty of sin has been removed from off all

creation.

- I know we look at those Words & say that there’s no way the penalty was removed,

because we’re still suffering. There’s still pain in Childbirth, & the ground doesn’t

cooperate with us.

- I want you to notice something though. This payment was for all of creation.

Q- I don’t know how many people are in God’s plan of creation, do you?

- Every person that will be born, according to God’s plan, will have the opportunity

to receive this propitiation for their sin.

- God knows the moment, & He knows that question of,

Q- Is the penalty really paid for?

- As Jesus yielded up the Ghost, the earth quaked, & the veil in the temple was rent

in two.

- No longer was a High Priest the only one allowed to go into the presence of

God!

- We now have a High Priest That came once with the greatest sacrifice,

Himself unto God!

- Upon the great High altar of God He poured out His life’s blood to redeemed

all that would receive Him.

Q- How could we celebrate this great washing, & reconciliation being so far apart?

- Think & see with God’s eyes.

- He sees all that are His. He knows the very moment we will all be in His Kingdom,

& Listen to Jesus’ Words at the Last supper.
