This sermon explores the promise of divine empowerment through the Holy Spirit, enabling believers to witness for Christ's Kingdom to the ends of the earth.

Introduction

Good morning, beloved. It's a joy to be with you once again. We gather here in the sanctuary of the Almighty, not as strangers, but as a family united under His grace. Today, we're going to be looking at a powerful verse from the Book of Acts, a verse that speaks to the very heart of our faith, a verse that promises us divine empowerment, a dwelling in the Spirit's power, and a deployment of that power for Kingdom purpose.

In Acts 1:8, we read, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

These words, spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ, remind us of the extraordinary promise He made to His disciples, a promise that extends to us today. It's a promise of power, not of our own, but of the Holy Spirit. It's a promise of purpose, not for our own gain, but for the Kingdom of God.

Charles Spurgeon, the great 19th-century preacher known as the "Prince of Preachers," once said, "Without the Spirit of God, we can do nothing. We are as ships without wind. We are useless." How true are these words? How often do we try to navigate the waters of life on our own, only to find ourselves adrift, lost, and powerless?

Yet, we are not left without hope, dear friends. For we have been given the Holy Spirit, the very same Spirit that empowered the early church, the very same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. This Spirit dwells in us, giving us the power to be witnesses of Christ's love, grace, and truth.

And so, as we seek to understand and apply this divine empowerment, let us remember that it is not for our glory, but for His. It's not about our abilities, our strength, our wisdom, but about His power working in and through us. We are called to be His witnesses, to share His love and truth with others, not just in our own city, but to the ends of the earth.

Discovering Divine Empowerment

The words of our Lord Jesus Christ in Acts 1:8 are not just an assurance, they are an invitation. An invitation to step into a life that is marked not by our own strength and abilities, but by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is not a power that we earn or achieve, but a power that we receive. It's a divine empowerment, a gift from God Himself.

This divine empowerment comes from the Holy Spirit, a power that enables us to be witnesses for Christ. Being a witness for Christ is not about being perfect or having all the answers. It's about sharing the love, grace, and truth of Jesus Christ with others. It's about living a life that reflects His love and points others to Him.

This is for all of us! It's for you and me. It's for the young and the old, the rich and the poor, the educated and the uneducated. It's for everyone who believes in Jesus Christ and has received the Holy Spirit.

Dwelling in the Spirit's Power

As we continue to engage with the promise found in Acts 1:8, we find ourselves drawn to the phrase "when the Holy Spirit comes on you ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
