Summary: The value and preciousness of God's Word in the lives and lips of God's people have been facing challenges. Some things seem to be contesting with God's word daily in our lives. Many of them are not mere bad things, but good things.
*_"And the Word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision. " 1 Samuel 3:1_*
Open visions are good and helpful in order to facilitate and speed up certain things in the realms of the Spirit. But open visions have challenges.
One of the greatest challenges, is the relegation on the Word of GOD. Sometimes people tend to depend on open visions more than they do on the Word of GOD.
People want to hear from a prophet more than they hear from God's word, even when the prophet, who is a human being, makes error.
We sometimes hear statement like "the mistake of a prophet is also a prophecy".
These are what makes the Word of GOD not to be precious to us any longer.
So GOD had to withdraw open visions in those days, in order to make His Word more precious.
The Word of GOD is surer than any prophecy. As a matter of fact, any prophecy that contradicts God's word is fallacy.
_*"We have also a MORE SURE WORD OF PROPHECY;* whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:" 2 Peter 1:19_
First, God's Word is a Word of prophecy.
Second, God's Word is a Sure Word of prophecy.
Third, God's Word is a More Sure Word of prophecy.
So no matter the prophecy or vision you've had, God's Word supersedes them all. It is more superior and more dependable.
Prophecy may fail (1 Corinthians 13:8), but God's Word never fails. Praise GOD.
These days, can we say God's word is precious in our days?
Do we esteem God's word more than any thing or any person?
What are the teachings we hear, that we cannot find in the word, yet we believe them, because our Pastor or Bishop, or Prophet says so?
Do we now quote people more than we quote God's Word?
May GOD restore the value and preciousness of His Word to us. Praise God!
