EXTREME MAKEOVER:
NATION EDITION
Introduction:
Song: “God Bless America”
As we sang “God Bless America” I couldn’t help but think, “He already has blessed us over and over again.” The USA has become like a rich spoiled brat that forgets how good they have it. The poor in our country would be rich in most other countries. What the USA needs is an extreme makeover.

I. Ears
John heard the question with his ears, but not in his heart. Surely he had not forgotten about the power of Jesus, or did he?
We live in a Nation where we hear the negative all the time. Turn on the news and you will hear about death, dissension, and evil. Even Christians tend to focus on the bad. We hear this junk and then do what? We get madder and complain to one another. Have we forgotten who is victorious? We must listen with new ears, spiritual ears that allow us to again hear the voice of victory.

II. Eyes
Jesus, the Lamb of God who was slain for us was at the center of the throne where He belongs. The 4 living creatures and the 24 elders were around Him. Jesus took the scroll from the Father because He alone is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll.
The USA needs to look once again at the Book that once was foundational to our Nation- the Bible. We need to look back at the cross and the empty tomb of Jesus. We need to look back at when Jesus was on the throne and our sins were on the cross. We try to put Jesus back on the cross and our lives on the throne. Jesus needs to be seen back in the center of our Nation with its leaders and people around Him watching. We would then see victory in our Nation once again.

III. Knees
The 4 living creatures and the 24 elders hit their knees and worshipped Jesus. In their hand was a bowl full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
We live in a country where we need new knees, knees with calluses from humbling ourselves before God and praying to Him. Our prayers are sweet incense to Him.

IV. Lips
The 4 living creatures, 24 elders, thousands of angels, and every creature were singing praises to Jesus. The only word heard spoken was Amen, which means “I agree”; and then more worship.
Our Nation has become known for her foul words, abusive words, selfish and opinionated words, etc… The USA needs new lips. Lips that worship the Lamb, and nothing else.
Conclusion:
At this point of the sermon I want us to stop and sing praises to the Lamb of God.

If we want to see our Nation turn back to God, it must start somewhere. Why not here?
We need to listen with our hearts, see who is on the throne of our hearts (make sure it is Jesus), get on our knees and humble ourselves and pray, and allow only things that bring glory and honor to God to roll off our lips.
