As believers, we are called to bless others, regardless of their response. By focusing on others, appreciating their good qualities, and speaking well of them, we can invoke God's authority and bring blessings into their lives.

Youth Sermon: Flip The Blessing

Blessings as Power-ups

You know how in video games, you get power-ups or bonuses that give you extra points or abilities? Well, in real life, we have something similar, and it's called blessings.

You remember the story of the Israelites, right? They were wandering in the desert, and God gave them this awesome blessing through the priests. It was like a power-up for their lives. It went like this: "May the Lord bless and protect you; May the Lord smile on you and show you kindness; May the Lord look on you with favor and give you peace." (Numbers 6:24-26)

It was like a power-up for their lives.

We are the Power-up Dispensers

Now, fast forward to the New Testament. Peter tells us that we're all like priests now. We're chosen, special, and it's our job to bless others and tell them about God's awesomeness. (1 Peter 2:9)

Jesus even told his disciples to bless every house they entered. He didn't say, "Check if they're cool first," or "Make sure they deserve it." Nope. Just bless them. (Matthew 10:12)

So, what does this mean for us? It means we should be like those power-up dispensers in video games. We should be giving out blessings left and right, not worrying about if people deserve them or not.

The Joy of Giving Blessings

Remember Job? Dude had a rough time, but he still prayed for his friends, and God gave him a double blessing. (Job 42:10,12) That's like getting a double power-up!

So, how do we do this? First, we need to remember all the blessings we've got. Be grateful for them. Then, find your own way to bless others. Maybe it's a kind word, a helping hand, or just a smile.

And remember, it's not about getting something in return. It's about the joy of giving. Jesus said it's more blessed to give than to receive.

Prayer

Let's pray.

God, help us to be aware of the blessings we have and to find joy in blessing others. Give us the courage to bless without expecting anything in return. Amen.

So, let's go out there and be power-up dispensers, guys. Let's flip the blessing!
