Psalm 54 From Prayer To Praise

1. The Prayer of the Psalmist 1-3

i. The Person for Prayer - Save me, O God, -

The Search for Salvation - Save me,

The Source of Salvation - O God,

The Sufficiency of Salvation - by thy name,

Matt 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

The Clarity - and thou shalt call his name JESUS The Certainty - for he shall save

The Company - his people The Charity - from their sins.

ii. The Principle for Prayer - by thy name,

God's Character, God's Covenant, God's Conduct.

iii. The Power for Prayer - 1 and judge me by thy strength.

God's Strength is Supreme, Surprising, and Surpassing.

Num 24:8 God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows. Ephesians 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

iv. The Practice in Prayer -

2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

v. The Prompting for Prayer

The Provocation - 3 For strangers are risen up against me, (Ziphites)

The Persecution - and oppressors seek after my soul: (Saul)

The Perversion - they have not set God before them. Selah.

2. The Prospects of the Psalmist

i. The Source of Help - 4 Behold, God is mine helper:

ii. The Support in Help - the Lord is with them that uphold my soul

Gen 12:3 and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee:

and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed

iii. The Surety of Help - 5 He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth. 3. The Praise of the Psalmist

i. The Liberty in Praise - 6 I will freely sacrifice unto thee:

ii. The Life in Praise - I will praise thy name, O Lord;

iii. The Love in Praise - for it is good.

iv. The List for the Praise - 7 For he hath delivered me out of all trouble:

and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.

i. God's Righteousness - 6 I will praise thy name, O Lord; for it is good ii. God's Rescue - 7 For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: iii. God's Retribution - 7 and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.
