Summary: A wall is and obstacle. It can impede. The Word of God gives us advice how to get past them.

GETTING PAST YOUR WALL

Gal. 5:7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

The primary purpose of a wall is to be a barrier that keeps things, or people, at bay on one side or the other.

There are good walls and there are walls that endeavor to thwart your progress.

Each of us needs to first consider the wall or walls that are in our lives. Is it something that God is allowing to keep us from some harm or pitfall? Or, is it something that the enemy is using to keep you from greater victory?

God has a lot to say about walls.

The walls of Jericho were brought down to bring great victory and build strong faith for the children of God.

Nehemiah was used of God to build the walls of Jerusalem in a time of much opposition and shaky faith.

There are many obstacles in life that the enemy would like to use to keep you from victory.

Another term for a wall is an obstacle.

There are some walls/obstacles that the enemy puts in our spiritual path, that only serve to hold you and I back from where God wants us to be.

That is where FAITH, BOLDNESS, and OBEDIENCE are necessary for us to progress.

It is interesting to see some examples in the Bible of getting past the wall.

I. We can Wait on God to Make the Wall Fall

Hebrews 11:30 - By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength". Isa. 40:31

Joshua led the children of Israel to march around Jericho.

It was a persistent faith. Obedience and patience make up a bid part of this task. It is not just sitting around twiddling our thumbs. Continual faithful service is all God is asking of you.

Time appears to be a hinderance to many of us. We all want our wall/obstacle to be gone yesterday. God never gets nervous about time. He works in eternity.

The children of Israel were probably starting to wonder, after 6 days of doing the same thing with no apparent results. No cracks in the bricks yet, no loose mortar.

God is at work, whether you see any symptoms of it or not.

II. One may receive a special measure of strength to jump/leap over the wall

Ps. 18:29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.

David received special grace from God to leap over the wall that was meant to hold him back.

The Holy Ghost may come by and do a special work of grace that will catapult you over that wall that has been holding you back.

III. God can help you Grow from Behind your Wall until your limbs reach over and produce Fruit

Gen. 49:22-24

22 ¶ Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:

23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:

24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob

God gives Grace and Growth

As time marches on and you grow in His grace, don't be surprised if you find yourself maturing to the point that the wall is not limiting you anymore, because you now easily reach over that wall. It has no hindering power in your life.

The wall did not get shorter, but you found a higher power and a higher plane.
