Summary: It is the desire of most believers to see the manifestation of God’s power in the their lives. What is the Power of God and how do we see it work?

2. There are two major typological references to God's power all through scriptures.

A. The intervention of God's omnipotence in the dominion of Man - 2 Kings 17:36, Psalms 111:6, Nahum 1:3,

3. Every time great works of miracles took place in the old testament, it was God's intervention in the dominion of Man. God had given man dominion over the earth and man had power to influence and control things on earth.

4. But when man sinned in the garden, this power was surrendered to Satan. So whenever man encountered a situation that became as a result of Adam's sin, man was powerless and could only cry out to God for his intervention, and when God did, He did by unveiling His omnipotence to man.

5. The prophets of old from Moses to Malachi through their faith in God were able to activate the omnipotent intervention of God and this was evident in the mighty works performed through them.

6. Even Jesus operated in the activation of God's omnipotent intervention when he healed the sick, raised the dead and performed mighty miracles. Acts 10:38, Matthew 9:6-8, Matthew 28:18, Luke 4:14,32, B. The expression of God's kingdom on earth through those who believe - Mark 6:7, John 1:12, Acts 1:8, Acts 4:33, Acts 6:8, Romans 1:4

7. Man had lost his place of authority, the Spirit of the God had to be invoked and God worked at intervals

8. To the second part…

B. The expression of God’s kingdom on earth through those who believe – Mark 6:7, John 1:12, Acts 1:8, Acts 4:33, Acts 6:8, Romans 1:4

9. There is an unreserved availability of the power of God to those who believe. The criteria for possession of this power is simply the belief in the sacrifice of Christ. This belief is having faith in Christ.

10. To the one who believes, the same power that came in times of old through the periodic intervention of God's omnipotence in the dominion of Man is now available in constant

.

11. In the old testament, God chose those through whom his power was expressed and these were few. And even these few were people who strove to validate their qualification for God's power through their works, but in the New Covenant, the validation of the believer to be qualified for God's power is the finished work of Christ.

But what is the Power of God?

12. Romans 1:16 tells us that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation. The power of God is encoded in the Gospel. This means that to experience the power of God, the Gospel must be declared.

13. Luke 4:18 clearly shows Jesus exposing his purpose on earth and the first thing He mentions as his assignment is to preach the Gospel, and following the Gospel is every other work of power.

14. The key to decoding God's Power is in the preaching, teaching of the Gospel

15. Romans 1:16 also tells us that the purpose of God's power is the salvation of man.

Why salvation?

16. The only problem God had with man is the sin problem. - Romans 5:12, Romans 6:14, 22.

17. Sin unplugged man from his power supply. So God knew that once he dealt with the sin problem, the supply of power will be revived.

18. So by reason of Christ's death, burial and resurrection, man's power supply had been restored but only to those who believe...

19. And so the scripture says... These signs shall follow them that believe...

Do you believe?

20. 1 Corinthians 15:1-6, So he sent his son who died, was buried and rose again, and in his death he disarmed principalities. This is the Gospel and in this gospel resides the power of God.

21. We must begin to base all our prayers and actions of faith on the foundation of the finished work of Christ. The promise of God is that by reason of what Christ had accomplished on the cross, we are now made partakers of all of God's promises.

22. So we see that the Power of God is a right accruing to those who believe in the finished work of Christ. We are not of those who are looking for power, we are a depository of God's power.

23. As you preach the Gospel and base your prayers and actions of faith on the finished work of Christ, you will see the power of God manifested through you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
