Does God really exist?

This is a foundational spiritual question that we would have asked ourselves at some point. Bible provides us with the answer.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

This first verse in the Bible is the foundation of the rest of the Bible and is fundamental to our understanding of who God is.

As a child, and perhaps even as an adult, we have all gone crazy at least one point in time, as we think about how this whole existence of life began. If scientists say, everything has evolved over billions of years, the question remains - when and how did the first particle come? How did the sun, moon and stars find their place in the universe?

Even as you grapple with those questions, the Bible opens with an answer.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

As simple as it may sound, this is so profound and may take a lifetime to analyse.

It answers three important questions: when, who, what?

The question of ‘How’ is addressed further down in the chapter.

This verse also covers three important things on which our physics is held together - the concept of time, space and matter.

Without Time, Space and Matter, all our inventions are powerless and useless.

It was God who created the concepts of time, space and matter before creating anything else.

In the beginning (time), God created the heavens (space) and the earth (matter).

And since it is God’s idea, He is not bound by them.

Time has three elements - past, present and future. But that does not apply to God. He is beyond the concept of time. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He has no beginning and no end.

Space has three elements - length, breadth and height. But again, that does not apply to God. He is beyond the concept of space. He is omnipresent and is present anywhere and everywhere.

The matter has three states - solid, liquid and gas. God is beyond the concept of matter. He has no form (Deut 4:15). God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:24).

The Trinity God is limitless, timeless and ageless.

That’s why you can never understand or fathom the eternal power of God with your limited brain. The God of the Bible is an all-powerful, eternal God. At the same time, he is a loving, caring and gentle God - He is all-sufficient at every step of your life.

Since He owns everything, He can call into existence the things that are not. He can open doors no one else can. He can make the iron float. The laws of gravity do not hold him back. He can walk on water. The laws of physics do not stop him. He can raise to life. The laws of death mean nothing to Him.

Cheer up! You serve an all-powerful God.
