Summary: Life is a journey. God has called us to walk in the high places.

Going up to the High Places

Text: Habakkuk 3:19 “The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.”

The Christian life is journey-

Jesus is the way!

He wants led us & guide us all along the way.

He will make me to walk upon mine high places.

Robert Frost wrote a poem about a traveler who came to fork in the road. Instead of choosing the most popular road - he choose the one less traveled.

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.”

When we to go God’s way- It’s not always the easiest or the most popular. But it the best way!

In the Kingdom of God-

To go up - We must go down first

1 Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:”

If we want to go to High Places

We must humble ourselves first!

If we exalt ourselves - We are in for a fall

Pride cometh before a fall and a haughty spirit before Destruction.

We must listen for God’s Voice- Mark 3:13 “And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.”

God always calls us to go higher.

We must hear his Voice.

Sometimes the Lord calls but we too busy to hear him.

It’s not enough to hear the voice - We must obey his voice.

The Bible says he called unto them and they came unto him.

They came unto Him to be with Him.

Where did he call them - To the high places.

Vs. 14-15 “And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,

“And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:”

The High Places are:

A Place of Seperation- The Bible says “Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord” 2 Cor. 6:17

Nehemiah went up to rebuild the walls in Jerusalem. The enemy did everything he could to get him to come down. He said, "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?" Neh. 6:3.

A Place of Refreshing- Jesus said come unto me all those who weary & heavy laden & I will give you Rest. Come up! That’s where the power is- That’s were the glory is! We go to High Places to be filled and refilled.

A Place of Vision- We see things in a difference perspective. From the mountain everything looks different. Those giants that look so big in the valley don’t look so big from the mountain.
