HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GET OUT?

Mark 15:7

Intro: The text tells us about a man named Barabbas who has been incarcerated and is simply waiting execution. There is not a lot in the Bible about Barabbas. There is nothing about his youth or his parents. It seems Barabbas may have been brought up with the wrong crowd and he was definitely running with the wrong people. We know he is in prison with others who made insurrection against the government and committed murder. He was also a robber according to John 18:40 and Acts 3:14. For years he had run around being enticed by his friends until he was finally caught and put somewhere, where he could not get out. I want to preach on this subject, “HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GET OUT NOW?

C. Many of you this morning are shackled to your sin and the sad thing about it is you don’t have the key to unlock the shackles

D. Sin has got you wrapped up and many of you don’t even know how you got there. All you know is you are there and you don’t want to be

II. HE WAS WITH THOSE THAT PROMISED HIM THE MOST BUT PROVIDED THE LEAST

A. (Mark 5:17) which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him

C. Nowhere in the Bible do you find the others with him were ever sentenced to die the death that Barabbas was sentenced to

D. Many of you within the hearing of my voice have simply followed the wrong crowd and now you are the one paying for it

E. They have dragged you away from God and the people that love you and now while they are going on they have left you in a cold, dark prison to die

F. You are the one suffering the consequences

G. It is lonely because there is no love down in the prison. There is just anger and sadness and wondering how did you get here

H. Does ever cross your mind how you could get out?

IV. HE NEEDED SOMEONE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR

A. Barabbas couldn’t unlock his shackles on his own

B. He didn’t have the key to the door

C. All he knew was if he ever got a chance to get out that door he would take it

D. One day that chance came; not by accident but a man named Jesus made his bail
