Summary: God communicates with His people.

PSALM 19:1-3 “HOW GOD SPEAKS TO US”

A) We are living in a vast communication age.

* Computer ... WWW, and E-mail, and even Instant Message.

* Well, God has a way of communicating to us also.

B) We are told in Rom. 1:20 that God communicates to us visibly.

* “For the invisible things of him from the creation .......”

C) I will give you 7 ways in which God speaks and communicates with us.

* If I’m gonna have a relationship with God, then I need to know how

He communicates with me.

D) Communicate means to give information or news by

speaking or writing.

* So, God is actively speaking and talking to His people every day.

* How does He speak?

(1) HE SPEAKS THROUGH CREATION

A) v.1-5 ... It is a general revelation.

* Notice what the Psalmist said in v.1 “The heavens declare .......”

B) The word “declare” means, to announce, to proclaim,

to make known openly.”

* In Exo. 3:13-14 “And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I .......”

C) Spring flowers ... Stars ... Moon ... Sun ... Babies ... etc.

* When you look at these things, God again is saying to us, “I AM.”

D) Not only is it a general revelation, but it is unceasing – v.2.

* Each day has its own lesson in regard to the wisdom, the power, and the

goodness of God, and that lesson is conveyed from one day to another.

E) In v.3, it is understandable – It speaks in all languages.

* There is no nation, there are no men, whatever may be their language,

to whom the heavens do not speak, declaring the greatness and glory of God.

F) It is also universal – v.4-5.

* Here is a verse that explains these 2 verses – Rom. 1:19-20 “Because that

which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath .......”

G) Manifest means open, plain, evident.

* “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the .......”

* Rom. 2:1 “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man .......”

* So, God speaks to us through creation.

(2) GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH THE WORD OF GOD

* Rom. 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing .......”

A) You can “know God is” through creation, but you “can’t know God.”

* You can’t be saved without the Bible – Rom. 10:14 “How then shall .......”

B) Some examples: Acts 8 – Ethiopian Eunuch

* Acts 10 – Cornelius ....... Acts 16 – Lydia

C) The Bible is God’s final Word.

* John 12:48 “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my .......”

* This same Bible that you have today will judge you at

the judgment ... It is God’s final Word.

(3) GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH THE CONSCIENCE – v.13-14

* Go from seeing, to hearing, to the heart – Thank God for the conscience.

A) Illustration: See blue light ... Hear siren ... First thing you do

is look at your speedometer.

* John 8:9 – Woman taken in adultery, “And they which heard .......”

* Psalm 51:3 “For I acknowledge my transgression: and my sin .......”

* I’m glad that God speaks to me through my conscience.

(4) GOD SPEAKS THROUGH THE HOLY GHOST

* Look at John 16:7-11 .......

A) He reproves the world of sin, righteousness and judgment.

* The Comforter illuminates ... To light up, give light, enlighten,

to throw light on.

* No one will be convicted or converted without Him.

(5) GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH CHRIST

* Heb. 1:1-2 “God, who at sundry times and in divers .......”

A) There are no new revelations today.

* Beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing – Jesus warns us in Matt. 24:4-5

“Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall .......”

* Matt. 24:23-26 “Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is .......”

B) Jesus Christ is the last word spoken.

* God speaks and communicates to us through Him.

(6) GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH CIRCUMSTANCES

* Luke 15 – The Prodigal Son ....... Gen. 32 – Jacob

* Jonah ....... My personal testimony.

(7) GOD SPEAKS THROUGH THE CHURCH

A) John 20:21 “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you:

as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.”

* Christians ... The way we live.

B) We communicate with ... Our lips ... Loyalty ...

Labor ... Looking for Jesus.

* Rev. 2:7 “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit .......”

CLOSE

A) In life, we are responsible ... In death, we are accountable.

* I’m glad tonight that God does communicate with His people.

* Keep the communication lines open.
