INTRODUCTION

This is an introduction to the teaching: HOW TO OVERCAME FAILURE TO RETURN TO THE PERFECT WILL OF GOD. This is a continuation of the series knowing the voice of God.

KEY VERSE: Psalms 81:13 Oh, that my people had hearkened unto me and Israel had walked in my ways.

In our Previous lessons, we defined what is meant by "the will of God" and stated reasons why it is important to know God’s will. We also learnt of the requirements or the prerequisites which prepare you to hear the voice of God and discover His will for your life.

We then studied about THE PATTERN OF GODS WILL and our scriptural reading came from the book of Romans 12:1-2 With emphasis on verse 2 …And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

We learnt that: about the good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

1. The perfect will of God is accomplished when a believer is in harmony with the moral, sovereign, and individual wills of God for his life.

2. In the good will of God, the believer is not in the perfect plan for his life but he is within God's sovereign will and moral will.

3. In The acceptable will of God, The believer is missing the perfect will of God for his life but is still in an acceptable area.

4. we also talked briefly on OPERATING OUTSIDE THE WILL OF GOD: The believer in this realm is in direct disobedience to God's revealed will or has missed God’s will for his life in one way on the other.

This brings us to our topic for today: HOW TO OVERCAME FAILURE TO RETURN TO THE PERFECT WILL OF GOD.

B. OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this teaching you will be able to accomplish 3 important objectives:

• Identify Biblical examples of men who overcame failure to return to the perfect will of God.

• Identify Biblical examples of men who missed the will of God and their lives ended in failure.

• List guidelines for getting back into God's will when you fail.

We will also seek to answer some of the frequently asked questions like:

• what happens when you fail to discern the will of God?

• Perhaps you deliberately disobey His voice.

• Perhaps you miss His direction through error or misunderstanding of Biblical principles.

• Maybe you acted too quickly without His guidance.

• What should you do when you have tried and failed?

• Is there hope to hear the voice of God again?

Yes there is hope:

Job 14:7. For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease….8. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;…9. Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
