Explore the blessings of confession, the power of redemption, and the opportunities presented through obedience to God.

Introduction

Good morning, family!

I love the way Corrie ten Boom puts it: "When we confess our sins, God casts them into the deepest ocean, gone forever." Isn't that just an amazing thought? We're about to dive deep into the blessings of freedom found through confession, the absolute power of redemption, and the beautiful opportunity that obedience presents to us.

Let me read you the passage from Psalm 32,

"Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.' And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him."

The Blessing of Confession

The blessing of confession is a concept that we often overlook. It is a gift from God that allows us to experience His grace and mercy in a tangible way. When we confess our sins, we are not merely admitting our wrongdoings; we are acknowledging our need for God's forgiveness and grace. This act of humility opens the door for God's healing and restoration in our lives.

Brings us into right relationship with God: Sin separates us from God, but confession bridges that gap. When we confess our sins, we are saying to God, "I recognize that I have done wrong, and I need your forgiveness." This humble admission allows God to extend His grace and mercy to us, restoring our relationship with Him.

Brings freedom: The weight of unconfessed sin can be burdensome. It can cause guilt, shame, and a sense of unworthiness. But when we confess our sins, we are set free from these burdens. God's forgiveness liberates us from the guilt and shame of our sins, allowing us to experience His love and acceptance fully.

Leads to spiritual growth: As we confess our sins, we become more aware of our sinful nature and our need for God's grace. This awareness leads to a deeper understanding of God's character and His love for us. It also motivates us to strive to live a life that is pleasing to Him.

Cultivates a spirit of humility in us: It reminds us of our human frailty and our need for God's grace. This humility is pleasing to God and is a key ingredient for spiritual growth. It keeps us grounded and prevents us from becoming prideful or self-righteous.

Demonstrates God's faithfulness: When we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). This promise assures us of God's unfailing love and mercy towards us, even when we fail Him.

Not about earning God's forgiveness: God's forgiveness is a gift that He freely gives because of His love for us. Confession is simply our response to this gift. It's our way of saying, "Thank you, God, for your forgiveness. I accept it, and I choose to live in a way that honors you."

The Power of Redemption

The power of redemption is the belief that through Christ's sacrifice on the cross, we are not only forgiven of our sins but also liberated from the bondage of sin and death ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
