Youth Sermon: Increasing God’s Power in Your Life

Facing a Million-Man Army

Imagine you're facing a million-man army. Sounds scary, right? That's what Asa was up against. But instead of freaking out, he prayed. He told God, "There's no one but You who can help us." And guess what? God showed up big time. He didn't just protect Asa and his kingdom, He gave them a massive victory.

Picture this. You're in a boxing ring, and your opponent is way bigger and stronger than you. You're scared, but then your coach, who happens to be a world champion, steps into the ring to fight for you. That's what it's like when we pray to God in tough situations. He steps in and fights for us.

There's no one but You who can help us.

Leading a Huge Revival

Next, Asa led his people in a huge revival. They all gathered in Jerusalem, got rid of their idols, fixed up the Temple, and made a promise to seek God with everything they had. They partied hard, celebrating their commitment to God.

Imagine you're at a party, but the music is terrible, and everyone's bored. Then someone changes the music to your favorite song, and suddenly everyone's dancing and having a blast. That's what revival is like. When we seek God wholeheartedly, the party really starts.

Asa's Mistake

But Asa messed up too. When he faced another threat, he tried to handle it on his own instead of asking God for help. God sent a prophet to tell him off and remind him of how God had helped him before.

Picture you're trying to lift a heavy weight all by yourself, and you're struggling. Then a friend offers to help, but you refuse. That's what Asa did. He tried to handle things on his own instead of trusting God.

Lessons from Asa

So, what can we learn from Asa? We need to trust God in tough situations, seek Him with all our heart, and not try to do everything on our own.

This week, when you face a tough situation, pray about it. When you're tempted to do something you know is wrong, remember your commitment to God. And when you think you can handle something on your own, remember to trust God instead.

Prayer

God, help us to trust You like Asa did. Help us to seek You with all our heart. And when we're tempted to rely on ourselves, remind us to trust in You. Amen.
