Explores the vastness of God's knowledge, our limitations in comprehending it, and finding fulfillment in knowing our Omniscient God amidst information overload.

Introduction

Good morning, dear family of faith. It is indeed a joyous day, a day the Lord has made, and we are here to rejoice, to learn, and to grow in His Word. We are nestled here in this sanctuary, a haven of hope, a place of peace, where we can come together as brothers and sisters in Christ, to share in the beauty and mystery of God's infinite wisdom.

Today, we turn our hearts and minds to the profound words found in Psalms 139:6. The Psalmist sings,

"Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain."

A verse that speaks to the grandeur of God's knowledge, a knowledge that is beyond our human comprehension, a knowledge that is as wide as the universe and as deep as the deepest ocean.

As we sit here, we may find ourselves overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of information that surrounds us. In this digital age, we are constantly bombarded with facts, figures, news, and views. Yet, the wisdom of God is not just another set of data to be downloaded or uploaded. It is not something we can Google or find in the library. It is a wisdom that transcends human understanding, a wisdom that is divine, eternal, and unchanging.

Knowledge and its Limitations

In the vast expanse of the universe, we find ourselves, tiny specks of life on a blue planet, seeking to understand the mysteries that surround us. We have created tools to measure the stars, to map the genome, to predict the weather, to explore the depths of the ocean. Yet, despite our best efforts, there are limits to what we can know and understand.

The realm of science: No matter how advanced our technology becomes, there are always new frontiers to investigate, new questions to answer. We can never fully grasp the complexity of the universe, the intricacy of the human body, the diversity of life on earth.

The realm of philosophy: We grapple with questions of existence, of meaning, of morality. We ponder the nature of reality, the concept of truth, the essence of beauty. Yet, no matter how deeply we think, no matter how eloquently we argue, there are always doubts and disagreements, ambiguities and paradoxes.

The realm of history: We strive to understand the past, to learn from our mistakes, to appreciate our heritage. We study the rise and fall of civilizations, the lives of great men and women, the impact of wars and revolutions. Yet, no matter how diligently we research, no matter how carefully we analyze, there are always gaps in our knowledge, biases in our interpretation, uncertainties in our conclusions.

The realm of personal experience: We seek to make sense of our lives, to find purpose and fulfillment, to build relationships and communities. We reflect on our successes and failures, our joys and sorrows, our hopes and fears. Yet, no matter how introspective we become, no matter how empathetic we are, there are always mysteries in our hearts, conflicts in our relationships, dilemmas in our decisions.

All these realms: We see the limitations of human knowledge. We see that we are finite beings in an infinite universe, that we are fallible beings in a complex world, that we are temporal beings in an eternal timeline. We see that our knowledge is partial, our understanding is limited, our wisdom is flawed. Yet, in the midst of our limitations, we find a source of knowledge that is infinite, a source of understanding that is perfect, a source of wisdom that is divine. This source is God, the Creator of the universe, the Author of life, the Giver of wisdom.
