Youth Sermon: John’s Vision of The Voice

Introduction

Today we're diving into the book of Revelation. It's like the ultimate spoiler alert for how the world ends. Spoiler: God wins. But before we get to the end, we're going to look at a pretty wild vision that John had of Jesus.

Let's read Revelation 2 together.

Spoiler: God wins.

John's Vision of Jesus

So, John's chilling on this island, Patmos, because he wouldn't stop talking about Jesus. He's in a spiritual zone, and he hears this loud voice. It's so loud and commanding that he turns around to see who's speaking.

Now, imagine you're at a concert, and the music is so loud you can feel it in your chest. That's kind of what John was experiencing. But instead of a bass drop, it's the voice of Jesus.

John describes Jesus in a way that's pretty different from the Sunday school picture we usually have in our heads. He's got white hair, eyes like fire, feet like bronze, and a face shining like the sun. And from His mouth comes a sharp, double-edged sword.

This isn't gentle Jesus, meek and mild. This is Jesus in all His glory and authority. It's like seeing your favorite superhero in real life, but a million times better.

John also sees Jesus walking among seven golden lampstands, holding seven stars in His right hand. The lampstands represent the seven churches, and the stars are the leaders of those churches.

This shows us that Jesus is still involved with His Church. He's not some distant figure. He's right here with us, guiding us, and caring for us.

When John sees Jesus, he's so overwhelmed that he falls down as if he's dead. But Jesus touches him and tells him not to be afraid. He says, 'I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.'

That's pretty epic, right? Jesus has conquered death and holds the keys to life and death.

Application

So, what does this mean for us? Well, in a world full of voices telling us what to do, what to think, and who to be, we need to listen to the ultimate Voice—Jesus.

He's not just some historical figure. He's alive, He's powerful, and He cares about us. He's got the whole world in His hands, and He's got you and me in His hands too.

So, let's tune out the noise and tune into Jesus. Let's read His Word, pray, and listen to what He's saying to us.

He's got the whole world in His hands, and He's got you and me in His hands too.

Closing Prayer

Let's pray:

Jesus, thank You for being the ultimate Voice in our lives. Help us to tune into You and tune out the noise of the world. We want to see You in all Your glory and authority. Guide us, care for us, and speak to us. We love You. Amen.
