Summary: Many times, life come at you fast and unexpected. King David wrote the Psalm we are going to look at today, during a time of celebration. It was written at the dedication of the house of David.

I. The Psalmist Anguish

A. David experience renewal

1. I will extol You, O Lord…

2. I will exalt you.

3. This Psalm begins with exaltation and in Verse 12 it ends with thanksgiving.

4. Why does David Exalt the Lord and give Him Thanks?

5. Many believe that David may have experience a terrible illness to the point of Death.

6. Others say, David knew he had been in the Shadow of Death many times.

7. Verse two says that God healed him which would lead me to believe that he was sick or suffered a grave injury.

8. Daivd said of God, “You lifted me up”

9. The Lord spared David from death.

10. God had done for David what only God can do.

11. David prayed or cried out to God and God healed him.

12. David acknowledged that God had not let his enemies (foes) rejoice over him.

13. The Lord brought Him up from the grave.

14. Some of you have experienced a taste of death.

15. You know full well what it means to be in deaths clutches and to be pulled out by God.

16. David experienced renewal

B. All of us need renewal.

1. Some of you may need to cry out to God as David did.

2. As we said a few weeks ago.

3. We need to cry out, “Arise, O Lord!”

4. So many times, the wicked gloat over the adversity of the Godly.

5. We ask God to deliver us not just for ourselves but for His honor. Verse 4

6. David called on the saints to sing.

7. His singing alone was not enough, he enlisted the choir, he enlisted all the saints to sing with him.

8. When we get together on Sunday, it’s a good day.

9. Psalms 122:1, I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD.”

10. No matter what life throws at us, come together, and give God praise.

11. Some of you have had difficult weeks.

12. It was all you could do to get up and make it to church.

13. You did it anyway, and my prayer for you is that God will lift you up.

14. David said, “You brought my soul up from the grave.”

15. This morning, I want to encourage you to look to the one who can lift you up.

• He is the Alpha and Omega

• ELOHIM [el-oh-heem]: God “Creator, Mighty and Strong”

• Jehovah-JIREH [yah-way-ji-reh]: "The Lord Will Provide"

• Yahweh Meaning: "I AM WHO I AM" or "the LORD"

• El Shaddai Meaning: "God Almighty" or "God the All-Powerful"

• Jehovah Meaning: "The LORD," "the Self-Existent One," or "the Eternal One"

• And He loves you and cares for you.

• “1 Peter 5:7, casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].

• First, we see Psalmist Anguish but then we see…

II. The Psalmist Appeal

A. David acknowledges the anger of God.

1. David not only found favor with God, but he knew the chastening hand of God.

2. Look with me at Psalms 51.

3. Notice the comparison David make in Psalms 30:5

• His anger is but for _____

• His favor is for ________

• Weeping endures for the ____

• But Joy comes in the ______

4. David turned back to God and God restored him.

B. Is God angry with us?

1. Look at 6-7

2. David was confident in God.

3. God had prospered him.

4. Mt. Zion the city of David was strong and secure by God.

5. It also led to his demise.

6. It is on that same mountain that he sinned with Bathsheba.

7. Some of you have grown comfortable in Zion.

8. You have money, good health, life has been good to you.

9. You are born again, have a good church, but are you sold out for Jesus Christ.

10. Why has God blessed you?

11. What are you doing to make a difference in the Kingdom.

12. While David was prosperous, living in a palace, King of Israel, God hid His face from David, and he was troubled.

13. Has God hid His face from you?

14. Some of you need to come clean with God.

• Some of you are not spending time with God.

• Some of you are not committed to the Lord’s church.

• Some of you are not giving from the resources God has blessed you with.

15. It starts with you.

16. God, forbid we grow comfortable in Zion.

17. We are not home yet.

18. Saints of God we have work to do.
