Sermons

Summary: A sermon encouraging one to commit our lives to Christ and let one know there is forgiveness for sins-it doesn’t matter how bad.

The prophet Isaiah reigned during the time when the original nation of Israel had been divided into two kingdoms- Israel in the North and Judah in the South.

Indeed the Northern kingdom had sinned greatly against God and the Southern kingdom was headed in the same direction. These people sinned by: perverting justice; oppressing the poor, worshiping idols and relying on help from heathen nations instead of relying on God. Isaiah came as a prophet to Judah, but his message was for both of the kingdoms and for all mankind today including you and I.

Today as we look around, we can see the same thing that happened in Israel time of old, is happening to our society. Like Israel, many have perverted justice, oppressed the poor, have made other gods the God of their lives and have placed reliance on self and other people/things instead of placing it on God.

But there is something we must know about God.

In fact two things that we should note.

According to Isaiah:

1.Our Lord is a Lord of reason. He always sends someone to warn people before he throws out His wrath on them, and even though He has not send someone in your life before, you would word have heard His word on radio, TV or in your own conscience, howbeit Isaiah was then and I now I am.

2.Our Lord is a Lord of Grace and Forgiveness- Our God is graceful and love to forgive and today He is asking you to believe in His Son Jesus in order that your sins may be forgiven. But you see there is a step we must follow. Romans 10:8 say we must confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God has raised Him from the dead, and we will be saved.

Today, I am asking you to consider the words of the Lord. Just like Isaiah was asking the people of Israel. Additionally also, just like Isaiah proclaimed in the book of Isaiah 1:16-18, today I am saying it to you. It doesn’t matter what sins you may have committed in your life before, Jesus is willing to take away all those sins. Jesus is saying to repent-please turn away from those things that are destroying your souls.

Friends, Scarlet and Crimson are two colours that speak of guilt of those whose hands were full of blood.

This means extreme iniquity and perversity. If you have ever done anything wrong, you are guilty. In essence you have sinned.

I want to let you know that the scripture says in Romans: 3:23 that all have sinned. That includes you and I.

The penalty for sin is death. (Romans 6:23.)God is a God of love, and He is also a God of judgment!

Yet in spite of our sins, our God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.(2Peteter 3:9) This is exactly what the prophet Isaiah preached in the days of old.(Isaiah 1:18)

So God decided to send His Son Jesus into the world to pay for the sins of mankind. All of us! This took the form in Jesus dying on the cross for us (Romans 5:8)

Did you lied today? Have you cheated on your wife in secret? Do you still have that emotional relationship with that past lover? If you answer yes to any of these questions, you have sinned. You aren’t any different from David when he committed adultery with the wife of Urias(Bathsheba)

What will your choices be? Are you going to continue along the path of sin that is like scarlet and crimson or will you be bold to reason with the Lord and turn the scarlet and crimson life that you are living to a clean life in Christ Jesus?

I give you this moment-ask God to come into your life. Repeat after me this prayer:

Dear Lord, I confess that I am a sinner, who has being living my way by my standards. But through your word, you have shown me that my standards could never match up to your standards and so I will be judge by you, which will place me guilty. I wish to be found not guilty and so I accept your plan of salvation for my life. Therefore I confess Jesus as my personal Saviour and believe that you have raised Him from the dead and now I am willing to forsake all my ways and turn to you through the power of your Holy Spirit. Amen.

Please speak to a Pastor near you, about your decision.
