Summary: This sermon shows how we should draw people to Christ.
MAT. 5: 14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
FOLKS, WE ALL HAVE LIGHT IN US, BUT WE NEED TO THINK ABOUT WHAT TYPE OF LIGHT, WE ARE GIVING OFF. ARE WE THE TYPE OF LIGHT THAT:
I.DRAWS- JOHN 12: 32And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. JAMES 4: 8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
II.DIRECTS- PRV. 16: 9A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. PS 119: 105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
JOHN 14: 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
III.DENOTES-MARK 16: 15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
THE GOSPEL, DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION
I.DRAWS- TITUS 3: 8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. HEB. 12: 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
II.DIRECTS- MAT. 18: 6But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
B. OBSCURING THEIR VISION
III.DENOTES- MAT 7: 5Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
ROM 1: 28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
SO THIS MORNING, WHICH ARE YOU; A LIGHT HOUSE, OR A BUG LIGHT.
LETS, SHOW FOLKS THE WAY, TO THE: TRUTH, THE WAY, AND THE LIGHT!
