As followers of Jesus, we are called to be a light in the darkness, shining God’s love and truth to a world in need. One of the most powerful ways we can do this is by living a godly example. Lets explore what it means to live a godly example and how it can impact those around us.
What is a Godly Example?
A godly example is a life that reflects the character and values of God. It’s a life that is marked by love, kindness, compassion, and humility. It’s a life that is committed to following Jesus and living according to His teachings.
In 1 Timothy 4:12, Paul writes, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” This verse reminds us that our lives are a testimony to the power of God’s grace and love. When we live a godly example, we become a powerful witness for Christ.
Characteristics of a Godly Example
So, what are some characteristics of a godly example? Here are a few:
- Love: A godly example is marked by love. We show love to others through our words and actions.
- Kindness: A godly example is kind and compassionate. We show kindness to those in need and offer a helping hand.
- Humility: A godly example is humble. We recognize our place before God and others, and we live with humility and grace.
- Integrity: A godly example is marked by integrity. We live with honesty and transparency, and we are trustworthy.
- Faithfulness: A godly example is faithful. We are committed to following Jesus and living according to His teachings.
The Impact of a Godly Example
Living a godly example has a powerful impact on those around us. It inspires others to follow Jesus and live according to His teachings. It shows the world what it means to be a follower of Jesus, and it brings glory to God.
In 1 Thessalonians 1:6–8, Paul writes, “You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia — your faith in God has become known everywhere.”
