Summary: David was longing ror the water that he used to have. Maybe we are like David and we are longing for that special water. What we need to do is tell God we want some of that old time Pentecostal fire back in our life.

Longing For That Water

1 Chronicles 11:14-19

14 And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance.

15 Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

16 And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines’ garrison was then at Bethlehem.

17 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, that is at the gate!

18 And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD,

19 And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.

Have you ever longed for what you used to have in your walk with the Lord?

Have you ever found yourself longing for that water that you used to drink?

There is a fountain, this morning, and this fountain that comes from God’s Throne Room has not been shut off, so what has happened?

There will be times in our lives where we will long for the things of yesterday, but don’t you think that it is about time to get back in the water.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Maybe what we need to do today is:

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Do you need or are you longing for that old time fire that you, at one time, had?

Go boldly before the Throne of Grace and ask God to restore what you had.

1 Chronicles 11:14

14 And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance.

The People of God, at this time, has labored intensely to plant and cultivate these crops.

And when they were ready to be harvested, the Philistines would swoop down and take what rightly belonged to Israel.

This is what Satan tries to do to the believer; he attempts to rob you of your inheritance and will do so if you do not know how to properly follow the Lord.

God wants us to, as believers, follow what the Bible says to do.

Satan will come as a thief and try to take what God has given you. It is time to stand against the wiles of the evil one and say I don’t think so.

What God has given me, is mine, and I will not let it go in the Name of Jesus. Satan get thee behind me.

Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

David, at this time, is the hold, and the Philistines garrison which was at Bethleham.

Verse 17 says:

17 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, that is at the gate!

David was longing for a drink of water of the well in Bethlehem.

He was yearning for what he used to have; now it seems like a dream and an impossible thing to have.

Are you longing for what you used to have in your walk today?

Have you ever found yourself longing for that water you used to drink?

Don’t you think that it is about time you got in the river of God one more time, and let the Spirit of God have control of your situation?

If God has not changed, and Jesus is still the same as He has always been, what is your excuse?

You might say the kind of faith that I had has died off. So what you’re telling me is that you are dying?

You are longing for that water.

Ezekiel 47:9 And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.
