Youth Sermon: Making Disciples: Reproducing Followers of Christ

Tag, You're It!

Hey guys, you know that game of tag we all used to play as kids? The one where you're "it" and you have to tag someone else to pass it on? Well, Jesus gave us a similar task, but this one is way more important. It's about passing on our faith.

Jesus told His followers, "Go and make disciples of all nations." That's like Him tagging us and saying, "You're it!" Now it's our turn to tag others. But instead of just a game, we're sharing the most important thing in our lives - our faith in Jesus.

Jesus told His followers, "Go and make disciples of all nations." That's like Him tagging us and saying, "You're it!"

Being a Disciple-Maker

When we decide to follow Jesus, we're not just learning about Him, we're becoming like Him. We're growing in our faith and understanding of God's Word. But the game doesn't stop with us. We're then supposed to tag others and teach them what we've learned.

Now, passing on the faith isn't just about sharing some facts about Jesus. It's about investing in others' lives. It's like being a coach or a mentor, helping them grow in their relationship with God. We're supposed to be living examples of what it means to follow Jesus.

God's Empowerment

You might be thinking, "Whoa, I'm not ready for that. I'm not a Bible scholar or a pastor." But here's the cool part - God doesn't expect us to do this on our own. He gives us His Holy Spirit to guide and empower us. We don't have to rely on our own smarts or strength. God will work through us as we step out in faith.

A Lifelong Journey

Being a disciple-maker isn't a one-time thing, it's a lifelong journey. It takes patience, commitment, and love. It's like being a good friend - being there for them, answering their questions, and supporting them.

As we tag others, we're not just teaching them about Jesus, but helping them develop a deep and personal relationship with Him. We want them to experience His love, grace, and forgiveness. We want them to know Him as their Savior and best friend.

We're Not Alone

And remember, we're not playing this game alone. We have our church family, our youth group, our friends who believe. We can learn from each other, pray for each other, and hold each other accountable. Together, we can make a big difference for God's kingdom.

Let's Pray

So, let's take this game of tag seriously. Let's be disciples and make disciples. Let's pass on the faith to our friends, our classmates, our teammates. And let's pray for each other as we do this.

Lord, thank You for tagging us and making us Your disciples. Help us to tag others and pass on our faith. Give us the courage and wisdom to share Your love with those around us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
